Alexander P. Gurskis, 77 yrs. old of Nashua, NH, passed away peacefully at home, on Friday October 27, 2017. He was predeceased by the love of his life and wife of 52 yrs., Joanbeth L. Gurskis (Dimond) and his parents, Peter and Anna Gurskis.

Al was a life-long resident of Nashua, born at Nashua Memorial Hospital on April 24,1940. He was a graduate of Nashua High School, class of 1957. After which time he was offered an Architectural Scholarship but declined, to instead follow his heart by becoming a devoted, loving husband and proud father to 5 beautiful children.

Al’s strong sense of commitment was further evident by his lengthy career at the Nashua Telegraph. After starting there as a paperboy, he held several positions until he eventually retired as a Pressman in 2005 after nearly 48 years. He was best known and appreciated by his co-workers for his hard work, playful sense of humor and willingness to help anyone in need.

Al was a true family man. Through the years, he and his wife continued to fill their hearts and open their home to extended family, friends and anyone who needed a warm meal, place to stay or an ear to listen. It was Al’s humble, kind nature and his philosophy to “never take himself too seriously”, that endeared so many.

Al lived for and loved the times that he could gather his kids and grandkids to catch a Red Sox game, enjoy a cookout or even head to the beach for one of his nearly 50 years of family vacations at Hampton Beach.

Al will be remembered for his warm smile, kind heart and unwavering Catholic faith. He was truly loved and will be dearly missed.

He leaves behind his five children, their spouses: April and Bryan Finseth of Newbury, Kristen and Craig Ritz of Warner, Karen and Todd Therrien of Nashua Bob and Lauren Gurskis of Bradenton Beach FL, Cathy and Kirk Farrell of Mason; and his ten grandchildren: Bayla Finseth, Ava, Toby, Haleigh and Mikaela Therrien, Joshua and Jacob DeAngelis, Bo Gurskis, Faith and Holly Farrell. He also leaves behind numerous relatives, close friends and wonderful neighbors to which we are eternally grateful for their love and support over the years.

Calling hours will be held at the FARWELL FUNERAL HOME, 18 Lock Street, Nashua on Wednesday, November 1st from 4 to 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Christopher Church, 62 Manchester Street, Nashua, Thursday morning at 10 a.m. Friends are invited to attend and will gather at the church. He will be laid to rest in the Mausoleum of Mount Calvary Cemetery in Manchester. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Community Hospice House, 7 Executive Park Drive, Merrimack, NH 03054. Arrangements are in the care of the FARWELL FUNERAL SERVICE. (603) 882-0591. www.farwellfuneralservice.com

Dear Cathy,Bob,Karen,Kristen and April.....We are so sorry to hear about your Dad. Whenever we had a family get together, we were always so excited yo see your Mom and Dad. They were both so full of love and happiness. Your Dad had that smile that just made you feel so special. Family meant everything to both of them. Your Mom and Dad were a true fairy tale come true. They adored each other. I can see them now beaming and smiling down so proudly on their family . You were so blessed to have them as your parents and they were so blessed to have you. With love and deepest sympathy . Bruce and Patti

April,Karen,Bob,Cathy and Chris, Was so sorry to hear of your dad's passing. Every time I could fly home I would stop in and say hello and he would have coffee ready. Your dad and mom both helped me in more ways than I can say, when my mom Evelyn next door was sick. There laughter and since of humor was always so refreshing. Never did I ever hear of a negative word from your dad. I will surely miss his smile and our talks. May the Lord take you all by his loving hands and hold you in this time of need. Your dad and mom are now super angles who will be watching over you all. My prayers are with the family.

Dear Cathy, Bob, Karen, Chris, April, and family, I am so sorry to hear of your dad's passing. He was the kindest, smartest, and most loving man I've ever known. He touched my life in so many ways each time I stepped over the welcome mat and into the warmth of your parents' home. I will so miss our "Uncle Al". Love and hugs to each of you, Aunt Martha
