Armande “Mandy” (Turgeon) Hughes, 89, passed away Sunday morning, January 15, 2017 in the comfort of her home surrounded by those who loved her. She died with dignity and grace which is how she lived.
Armande was the youngest of 13 children born to the late Adjutor and Marie Louise Turgeon in Somersworth, New Hampshire. She was educated at St. Martin’s Parochial School, graduated from Villa Augustina High School and studied cosmetology. Mandy own a hair salon in Dover, NH for several years and later worked in the jewelry department at Miller’s clothing store in Nashua for 23 years where she made many friends. She had an infectious smile!
In 1950, she married Patrick “Buddy” Hughes, a marriage of 53 years. They had a beautiful family – seven children, sixteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Mandy was predeceased y her husband in 2003 and was the last surviving member of the Turgeon family.
Armande loved children, classical music, poetry and the beach. “Mandy”, “Memere”, “Grandma”, “Mimi”, “Mom” … we’ll miss you.
A period of visitation will be held at the FARWELL FUNERAL HOME, 18 Lock Street, Nashua on Thursday, January 19 from 8am to 9 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in St. Patrick Church, 29 Spring Street, Nashua at 9:30 am.
Interment will take place at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen at a later date. The family has requested lieu of floral offerings, please consider a donation in Mandy’s name to the Meals On Wheels, 70 Temple Street, Nashua, NH 03060. My deepest sympathy to all the Hughes family. How happy she will be to spend her time with Uncle Buddy again. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Aunt Armande was the last survivor of the Turgeon family. She was a legacy in the own rite and will be missed by all. Our sympathy to the Hughes' family. She is now at peace with Patrick and her family. Dennis and Jeanine Dumais

She touched my life and the lives of my children. I will remember her fondlybwith love and admiration and forever be grateful for the family she also welcomed me into. Shine brightly with Jesus and be proud of those you loved so dearly here on earth. You will be missed forever
