Rufus W. Hall, 91, of Nashua, husband of the late Pauline A. (Blanchette) Hall, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, March 1, 2018 at Fairview Nursing Home in Hudson, after a period of declining health.
One of eight children of the late Albert Victor and Jessie Winnoford (Foster) Hall, he was born in Paxton, Massachusetts on February 15, 1927. Rufus moved to Hudson, NH when was young, where his family owned and operated a dairy farm. He had very fond memories of growing up on the farm in Hudson, and often told funny stories of his days on the farm.
Mr. Hall began his career in the shoe industry at the former J.F. McElwain Shoe Company in Nashua where he worked for 39 years and then was employed with Sanders Associates, Inc. and their successors BAE Systems for 22 years.
In his leisure time, Rufus loved spending time with his family and enjoyed trips to Rockingham Park with friends and Bus trips to Foxwoods Casino. He was a longtime member of the Lafayette Club. His outlook on life was “Take life as it comes, one day at a time”. “Better days are coming!”
Rufus was predeceased by his wife Pauline, who passed away January 10, 2013. They were married June 24, 1950 and shared 62 years together. He was also predeceased by a son, Thomas J. Hall; his brothers, Kenneth, Jack, James, Douglas and Gilbert Hall; and a sister, Lillian Beland.
Members of his family include three sons, Roger W. Hall and his wife Pamela of Litchfield, Dennis D. Hall of Nashua and David M. Hall and his wife Kathleen McLinden of Brookline; a daughter-in-law, Sandy Hall of Conway, NC; eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren; a sister, Sally Hudon of Nashua; sister-in-law, Norine Hall of Hudson; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, William and Lynn Blanchette of Nashua; also, many nieces and nephews.
There are no calling hours. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. Donations may be sent in his memory to Home Health & Hospice Care, 7 Executive Park Drive, Merrimack, NH 03054.
