Thelma P. (Johnson) Betts, 100, of Hudson, NH, widow of A. Radley Betts Sr., passed away Thursday morning, November 9, 2017 at Fairview Nursing Home.

Mrs. Betts was born in Marlborough, Massachusetts on August 20, 1917, a daughter of the late Edwin and Katherine (Burns) Johnson. A resident of Hudson since the mid-1970s, Thelma previously made her home in Marlborough, Boston and Southborough, Massachusetts. She was a longtime volunteer at Alvirne High School in Hudson and Memorial Hospital now known as Southern New Hampshire Medical Center in Nashua.

She was a member of the Community Church of Hudson and held membership in the Order of Eastern Star of Stoneham, MA.
In her leisure time, Mrs. Betts enjoyed traveling to many destinations including Austria, Switzerland and Alaska and was an avid Ten Pin bowler.

Thelma was predeceased by her Radley who passed away on March 6, 1981. They were married on April 20, 1941 and shared nearly 40 years together. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Carl Johnson and Edith Watkins; and her daughter-in-law, Maureen (McLaughlin) Betts.

Members of her family include her children, A. Radley Betts Jr. and Janet Smith and her husband Robert, all residing in Weare, NH; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held at the FARWELL FUNERAL HOME, 18 Lock Street, Nashua on Monday, November 13th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Her funeral service will follow immediately at one o’clock. Such a great lady! I also was a member of The Community Church of Hudson, and loved working and socializing with Thelma. We had many laughs and good times. Rest in Peace, dear Thelma; and may God bless and keep all of you, her family.
