Walter J. Macomber, 79, of Hudson, NH, Beloved husband of Anne H. (Dusart) Macomber, passed away early Friday morning, June 16, 2017 at Fairview Nursing Home, after a period of declining health.
A resident of Hudson since 1969, he was born in Cranston, Rhode Island on April 7, 1938, son of the late Walter P. and Muriel (Jowett) Macomber. Walter was raised in Cranston, RI and moved to Windsor, Maine in his early teens and graduated from Augusta High School, Class of 1955. He furthered his education at the University of Maine at Orono, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in electronics engineering.
Mr. Macomber had been employed as an engineer and instrument landing specialist with the Federal Aviation Administration in Burlington, Massachusetts for many years. During his career with the FAA, Walter worked in the Sultanate of Oman for a year and a half. He was a member of the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers).
A worldwide traveler, Walter and his wife loved visiting many foreign and domestic locations including Europe, the Middle East, South America, Antarctica, Alaska and Hawaii. He also enjoyed playing bridge and reading science fiction books.
Members of his family include his wife Anne, whom he married in 1966 and shared the past 51 years; his three daughters, Roberta Macomber Lawson, DVM and her husband, Michael Lawson of Kensington, NH, Naomi A. Equels and her husband James Equels of Beaver, PA and Nicole Alexandra Barrett and her husband Sean Barrett of Derry, NH; eight grandchildren, Jowett Equels, Asa Equels, Hannah Lawson, Michael Lawson and Kaitlyn Lawson, Lily Barrett, Quinn Barrett and Julian Barrett; and many cousins. In addition to his parents, Walter was also predeceased by his sister, Lois Macomber.
The family wishes to extend its sincere gratitude to the staff of Fairview Assisted Living and Nursing Facility for its outstanding care over the final months of his life.

Anne, Roberta, Naomi, Nicole, and Marmaduke, Walter was so lucky to have you as his family. He held a special place in my heart, and I will miss him (and all of you). He was a remarkable man with a loving heart. RIP, Walter.
