Roland S. “Ron” Neff

     Roland S. Neff, 84, of Bedford and formerly of Merrimack, passed away Saturday evening, October 15, 2016 at the Bedford Hills Center after a period of declining health.

     A son of the late Perley W. Neff and Vera E. (Jennison) Neff Chabot, he was born in Concord, NH on August 21, 1932. During his early years, Ron resided in Concord and then in Dracut, Massachusetts. He was educated in the Dracut School System. 

     Ron was a longtime local businessman who owned and operated Blue Star Glass Company in Hudson for several years and later owned Neff’s Mini Mart in Nashua.

    An active member of the First Baptist Church of Hudson, Ron served as a Deacon, Trustee and Sunday School teacher. He also served on the Board of Christian Education, was a Youth Group Leader, was a Past President of the American Baptist Men of New Hampshire and enjoyed candlepin bowling with the church league.

      Ron married Gloria H. Patten on January 30, 1954 and shared 60 years together until her passing on September 20, 2014. They enjoyed traveling to Montreal, Quebec and Florida.                                   

       Members of his family include his three children, Debra L. Lavoie of Hudson, Steven R. Neff of Manchester, and Sheryl L. “Sheri” Zipps and her husband Thomas of Merrimack; two grandchildren, Jered Neff and Kelly Gagnon and her husband Michael all of Manchester; two great-grandchildren, Layla and Sylus Gagnon; a sister-in-law, Priscilla Chabot of Nashua; also nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his wife and parents, Ron was also predeceased by his brothers, Perley W. “Chuck” Neff Jr. and Adelard “Al” Chabot.

     Calling hours will be held at the FARWELL FUNERAL HOME, 18 Lock Street, Nashua, Tuesday October 18th from 6 to 8 p.m. His funeral service will be held in the First Baptist Church, 236 Central Street in Hudson, Wednesday morning at 11 o’clock. Friends are invited to attend. Following cremation, interment will take place in Edgewood Cemetery. Thank you Ron and Gloria for so many years of great friendship.You guys motivated us to do and go many things and places that I didn't have the drive to do own my own. If there is a here after it won't be much longer before we meet again.
