Barbara V. Keirstead, 70, a lifelong Nashua resident, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday evening, February 15, 2017.
The daughter of the late Willard C. and Gladys I. (Fancy) Keirstead, she was born in Nashua on November 26, 1946. Barbara was a graduate of Nashua High School and furthered her education at Bowling Green State University in Ohio where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in education.
Barbara was a longtime English teacher in both the Merrimack and Nashua school systems, and retired while at Nashua High South.
Barbara was a lifelong member of The First Baptist Church of Nashua, where she served on numerous committees, fund raisers, dinners, church fairs and other events. Over the years, she enjoyed golfing, cross country skiing, gardening, traveling, spending summers in Wells Beach Maine and was a fan of the New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox.
Members of her family include her brothers, Willard L. Keirstead of Nashua and Richard C. Keirstead and his wife Susan of Windsor, CT; a sister-in-law, Barbara H. Kierstead of Nashua; an Uncle, Donald Morrison and his wife Beverly of Hooksett and her nieces and nephews, Wayne Kierstead, Jill Duquette, Danny Kierstead and Kathy Kierstead , Dale Keirstead, Sheri Keirstead, Jason Keirstead and his wife Kelly, David Keirstead, Anne Heinrich and her husband Eric; a grandniece, Hanna Kierstead; four grandnephews, Joseph Keirstead and his wife Tarah, Campfield Keirstead, Paxton Keirstead and Jayden Keirstead; a great-grandnephew, Logan Kierstead; and longtime extended family, Mary Ann Matson of Nashua, Michael Rizzo of Nashua and David Sample of Alton.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was predeceased by a brother, Harold W. Kierstead; and a nephew, Harvey Keirstead.
SERVICES: In honoring Barbara’s wishes, there are no calling hours. A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family.
