Fayone A. “Fay” Gallant, 85, of Hollis, widow of Charles J. Gallant Jr., and formerly of Nashua, died Sunday morning, February 1, 2015 at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center in Nashua after a brief illness.

   Mrs. Gallant was born in Bloomfield, Vermont on November 2, 1929, a daughter of the late Lloyd and Marguerite (Denney) Hendrick. After the death of her parents, Fay was raised by foster parents Marshall and Elizabeth Gilchrist and resided in Lancaster and Manchester, NH before moving to Nashua. She was a graduate of Nashua High School Class of 1948 and continued her education at Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Nashua, graduating as a Registered Nurse.

     A homemaker, Fay was also employed for a time as a nurse at the former Memorial Hospital in Nashua now known as Southern New Hampshire Medical Center. In later years, she worked as a homemaker for Home Health & Hospice of Nashua.

     In her leisure time, Fay enjoyed cooking, bingo and loved spending time with her family. Besides her parents, Fay was predeceased by her husband Charles, whom she married on October 30, 1953 and shared 24 years together until his death on  April 17, 1978; and four brothers, R. Ewing Hendrick, G. Denney Hendrick, Lloyd Hendrick and Orin Hendrick.

      Members of her family include her three children and their spouses, Cathleen K. and Robert Arredondo of Weare, Holly J. and Christopher Burns of Hillsboro and Alan S. and Jeanne Gallant of Derry; four step-grandchildren, Jennifer Burns and her significant other William Caldwell, Kelly Daigle and her husband Fred, Nick Bronson and his wife Heather, and Jeff Desharnais and his wife Sara; five step-great-grandchildren, Sam and Katie Caldwell, Ella and Lily Bronson and Sadie Desharnais; three sisters, Eda Peed of Florida, Beth Tilton of Hollis and Norma Gratton of Derby, VT; a foster  brother, Bruce Gilchrist of Florida; her sister-in-law and brother-in-law who were dear friends, Leona and Ron Roy of Nashua; and many nieces and nephews.

     A Celebration of Her Life will be held at the FARWELL FUNERAL HOME, 18 Lock Street, Nashua on Wednesday, February 11th from 5 to 7 p.m. Family and friends are invited to attend.
