Donald A. Moore, 82, of Hudson, NH, passed away on Monday evening, July 3, 2017 after a period of declining health.
A resident of Hudson for the past 41 years, he was born in Allston, Massachusetts on April 19, 1935, a son of the late Augustus A. and Victoria E. (Anstey) Moore. Don was a graduate of Brighton High School and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Northeastern University in Boston. An Army veteran, he served his country from October 1957 to October 1960.
Mr. Moore was a coatings chemist at Raffi and Swanson, Inc. in Wilmington, MA for several years until his retirement in 1997.
An active member of the First Baptist Church of Hudson, Don served on several boards and committees as well as Senior High Youth Group Leader for several years. He also participated in many VTNH Baptist Convention activities, primarily Camp Sentinel where he was a camp counselor for Senior High teens for more than ten years. In his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing, chess, reading and classic television programs.
Members of his family include his wife of 59 years, Phyllis A. (Cook) Moore, whom he married on April 12, 1958; his children, David, Peter and Katherine; his grandchildren, Zachary, Ryan, Alexander, Evan and Ava; also numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Don was predeceased by his brother, Thomas H. Moore; and his nephew, Thomas L. Moore.
A Memorial Service will be held at the First Baptist Church, 236 Central Street in Hudson, NH on Monday afternoon, July 10th at 1:00 p.m. Friends are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Camp Sentinel, 29 Sentinel Lodge Road, Center Tuftonboro, NH 03816. Committal prayers and interment will take place on Wednesday, July 12th at 2 p.m. at Hills Farms Cemetery, Derry Lane in Hudson, behind Alvirne Chapel.
