Carole Joan (Edwards) Stevens, passed away Thursday evening, August 3, 2017, at Pheasant Wood Center, in Peterborough, NH, where she had been residing since June of 2016.
Carole was born on November 21, 1932, in Meriden, Connecticut, to the late Florence M. (Miramant) Vosgien and Lucien J. Vosgien. She attended local schools before attending New Hampshire Vocational Technical College, where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. Carole worked as a Registered Nurse for Memorial Hospital and also for Dr. Wrobleski and Dr. Alan Green.
Carole was a very talented seamstress. She worked for Singer Corporation for many years. Alongside her husband Henry, who is a talented upholsterer, together they decorated many homes with their expertise in creating professional window treatments and accessories.
Carole also was an amazing cook and documented many outstanding recipes with her co-workers at Memorial Hospital. As a sports enthusiast, Carole loved to attend school football and basketball games watching her children. As an avid Patriot fan, she watched the games every week. Carole loved the outdoors and traveled the country in 1997 visiting 22 states. She loved the beach and savored any opportunity to walk the sands with her children and grandchildren. She also loved to spend hours in her garden growing flowers. Her favorite hymn is “I Come to the Garden Alone”. Among Carole’s many beautiful qualities was her contagious laugh, smile and sense of humor. She was a joy to everyone she met and made an artform out of making friends. Carole married her husband, Henry B. Stevens on September 12th, 1970, and have spent the last 47 years together.
Members of her family include her husband, Henry B. Stevens, a daughter Noreen Joan (Edwards) Wemple, and four sons, Martin James Edwards, Brian B. Edwards, Daniel A. Edwards, and Jeffrey B. Stevens. In addition, there are 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Carole is also survived by her sister Jean Burdette and brother David Vosgien.
In addition to her parents, Carole was predeceased by her brothers Donald Vosgien and Jimmy Vosgien and her sister Kathy Cirillo.
SERVICES: Calling hours will take place on Tuesday evening, August 8th at the FARWELL FUNERAL HOME from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place the following day at St. Christopher Church, Manchester Street, Nashua at 10:00 a.m. Memorial Donations may be made in her name to the Alzheimer’s Assocation, 166 S River Rd #210, Bedford, NH 03110.
