Leonard W. Dailey, 89, of Hollis, NH, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, November 9, 2017 in Nashua, NH.
Len was born in Lowell, Massachusetts on June 23, 1928, the youngest son of the late George E. and Josephine (Reardon) Dailey. He was the beloved husband of the late Elizabeth (Sherlock) Dailey, who passed away on May 21, 1989. They were married on August 13, 1955 and shared over 33 years of marriage.
He grew up in Billerica, MA, and as a youth worked on the family dairy farm. Len attended Keith Academy and graduated in 1947. He then attended Merrimack College, graduating in 1951, where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing. After college, Len enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during the Korean Conflict in Alaska. He obtained the rank of Sergeant and was honorably discharged. Len opened Nashua Finance Company, Inc., in Nashua and operated the business for thirty years until his retirement.
Len enjoyed winter vacations in Sarasota, Florida, with his wife and family members for many years. In addition, Len enjoyed reading, following national politics, golfing, ballroom dancing, gardening, and outdoor work. Len was a fan of the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox. He was most fulfilled by time spent with family and friends.
Len is survived by his three devoted children: Barbara Dailey and her husband, James P. Manning of Ogunquit, Maine; Leonard W. Dailey, Jr. and his wife, Karen A. of Hollis, NH; and Marianne Dailey of Nashua, NH; he also leaves behind thirteen nieces and nephews and their children, and friends. In addition to his parents and his wife, Len was also predeceased by his brothers, Robert F. Dailey and George E. Dailey, Jr.; and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Richard and Ellen Sherlock.
Calling hours will be held at the FARWELL FUNERAL HOME, 18 Lock Street, Nashua on Sunday, November 12th from 4 to 7 p.m. Committal prayers and burial will take place on Wednesday, November 15th at 11 a.m. at Saint Patrick Cemetery, 1251 Gorham Street in Lowell, MA.
