George Vernon Mangan, 84, of Nashua, passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening, July 21, 2015 with his family by his side, after a brief illness.

   Born in Toronto, Canada on October 25, 1930, he was the youngest of seven children of the late William and Mary Mangan. George was predeceased by his wife of 39 years, Katherine M. “Kay” (Gilmour) Mangan who died in November of 1995; and his son, Paul W. Mangan in October of 2013.                                     

    Members of his family include two sons, David G. Mangan and his wife Wendy of Chesterfield, MO and Glen J. Mangan of Bedford, NH; four grandchildren, Matthew and Rachel Mangan of Chesterfield, MO and Grant and Nora Mangan of Bedford, NH; his loving and caring companion of 17 years, Roberta Hamblett of Nashua; also many nieces, nephews and cousins.

     George began his 45 year career in the beer business with O’Keefe Ale in Toronto, Canada and continued with Anheuser-Busch, Inc. in California and Merrimack, NH.  George was an ambitious manager who climbed through the ranks, was well respected and many friendships were forged through the many decades of his career.

    Known for his calm demeanor, steady handed guidance and wisdom. George will be remembered for his sharp dry wit that was readily at hand. His ability to maintain forgiveness, optimism and gratitude throughout life reinforced his kind nature.   After his retirement, George volunteered for several years at Memorial Hospital / Southern New Hampshire Medical Center in Nashua. 

    George’s appreciation for “Pre War Cars”, and his 1941 Antique Cadillac is a proud example of that beloved passion. A proud dog lover, George owned four Golden Retrievers through the years. They were indeed close to his ever caring heart. 

SERVICES: A period of visitation will be held at the FARWELL FUNERAL HOME, 18 Lock Street, Nashua on Monday, July 27th beginning at 11 a.m. followed by his funeral service at Noon. Interment will take place in Edgewood Cemetery. Friends are invited to attend. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society for Greater Nashua, 24 Ferry Road, Nashua, NH 03064.
