Barbara L. Harmon, of Hudson, NH passed away on December 31, 2017 at the Southern New Hampshire Medical Center after a prolonged battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Barbara, 83, had been a resident of the Greenbriar HealthCare Nursing Home in Nashua, NH prior to her passing.
Born in Boylston, Massachusetts on August 11, 1933, Barbara was the third child of Harry and Ruth (Smith) Lovell. She married her first husband, Robert Harmon Klar, in 1954. They began raising their four children, Susan Sughrue, Robert Klar, Hans Klar, and Karen Faucher, in Topsfield, Massachusetts until 1974, when they moved to Hollis Center, Maine.
Barbara lived a happy and active life. She loved being surrounded by family, and never met a stranger. She enjoyed many activities, including, gardening, quilting, swimming, bowling, traveling and attending church. Barbara also enjoyed working, and served as the tax collector in Hollis Center for many years before earning a paralegal certificate in her mid-50’s at the University of Southern Maine. After becoming a certified paralegal, Barbara worked in the assessor’s office in Scarborough, Maine until she retired.
Following the death of her first husband in 1997, Barbara married Roland F. Harmon in 2001 and moved from Hollis Center, ME to Hudson, NH. Barbara and Roland enjoyed many active years of marriage before being slowed down by Alzheimer’s. Barbara and Roland enjoyed bowling and traveling by motorcycle. They attended motorcycle rallies all across the northeastern United States with friends from Manchester Harley Owner Group. They also took longer trips, once riding from Maine to Washington State.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Roland, four children, step-children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. In addition to her first husband, Robert, Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and her two siblings, Bob Lovell and Betty Lovell Peterson.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 6, at the First Baptist Church of Hudson at 236 Central St. Hudson, NH 03051. Visiting hours will be held from 9:30 to 11:30, with a service at 11:30. A luncheon will follow the service.
