Monica C. (Soucy) Berthiaume, 90, of Nashua, widow of Lionel J. Berthiaume, passed away at her home, Saturday, September 8, 2018.
A Nashua native, Mrs. Berthiaume was born on December 11, 1927, a daughter of the late Charles M. and Elmire L. (Parent) Soucy. Monica has been a lifelong resident of the French Hill neighborhood and attended the former St. Francis Xavier Parochial School. In addition to raising her family, she had been employed with Sprague Electric Company for many years.
Monica was a communicant of St. Louis de Gonzague Church and the former St. Francis Xavier Church for many years. In her leisure time, she enjoyed crocheting, sewing, tatting and cooking.
Monica and her husband Lionel were married on October 26, 1946 and shared over 42 years together until his passing on April 2, 1989.
Members of her family include a son, Dennis A. Berthiaume of Nashua; a daughter and son-in-law, Lynne M. and Gerald Brace of Brunswick, ME; two grandchildren, Aaron Brace and his wife Kari of Hudson and Leslie Witham and her husband Thomas of North Waterboro, ME; two great-grandchildren, Lydia and Lara Witham; also nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband and parents, Monica was predeceased by her sisters and their husbands, Laurette and Paul Langlais and Rita and Octave Goulet Jr.
There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Louis de Gonzague Church, 50 West Hollis Street, Nashua, Friday morning, September 14th at 10 o’clock. Interment will follow in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery. Friends are invited to attend and will gather at the church. Donations may be made in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, New England Office, 313 Washington Street, Suite 310, Newton, MA 02458.
