Philip Winfield McCubrey, 84, of Nashua, NH passed away on Saturday, October 6, 2018 after a period of declining health at Courville Nursing Home. He was the beloved husband of the late Marilyn March McCubrey.
Philip was born January 25, 1934 in South Portland, Maine to the late Robert W. and Charlotte (Otis) McCubrey. Philip was raised and educated in South Portland, where he was an All-State football player for the South Portland High School team. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the Army and served four years in Germany. He attended Northeastern University. Philip married his late wife Marilyn M. McCubrey July 19, 1958 and made Nashua his home for the past 60 years.
He was the founder and owner of Technical Design Service and TDS Printing in Nashua. Fraternally he held membership and a Past Master of Rising Sun Lodge #39 F&AM in Nashua, The Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Nashua and the New Hampshire Consistory 32 Degree and Bektash Temple. He enjoyed cooking special dinners at the Masonic Lodge for different events.
His passion was spending time outside walking, hunting and fishing around his camp in Maine and visiting family in St. Martins, New Brunswick Canada. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially teaching his grandsons how to fish and hunt as well as cheering them on at their baseball games. He was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan.
Members of his family include his daughter Debra S. Blannin of Hollis, NH, his sons and their families Luther A. and Patricia McCubrey of Brookline, NH and March O. and Anne McCubrey of Nashua, NH, his grandsons Charles and John McCubrey of Brookline, NH and Grant and Ian McCubrey of Nashua, NH; his brother David of Porter, Maine; many nieces and nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his wife Marilyn M. McCubrey; his parents; his son-in-law Alan Blannin; brothers Donald, Richard, Robert and George McCubrey; sisters Dorothy McCubrey and Barbara Warburg.
Interment will be held at a later date in Maine at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are in the care of the FARWELL FUNERAL SERVICE.
