Brenda Frances Salisbury, 75, of Nashua, beloved wife of Charles L. Salisbury, passed away early Tuesday morning, May 12, 2015 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack after a period of declining health.
A resident of Nashua for the past 47 years, Brenda was born in South Boston on December 5, 1939, a daughter of the late James and Molly (O’Leary) White. She was educated in South Boston.
After moving to Nashua in 1968, Brenda had been employed as a switch-board operator at Memorial Hospital now known as Southern New Hampshire Medical Center for several years. She spent the rest of her time raising her family.
Brenda was known for her love of animals, big and small. She and Charles actually met while they both worked at the Boston Animal Rescue League. Her home was never without a cat or dog. She was an old-movie buff, and inspired others to love Hitchcock films and golden-age musicals. She was a gifted story-teller and delighted her children and their friends with her funny recounting of events or silly tales she made up on the spot. In her leisure time, Brenda enjoyed visiting Hampton Beach and expanding her ever-growing collection of baskets. Her most notable feature was her incredible sense of humor, which will dearly missed.
Members of her family include her husband Charles, whom she married on June 29, 1962 and shared almost 53 years together; three children, Daniel C. Salisbury and his wife Lucille of Readfield, ME, Neal S. Salisbury of Nashua and Karen L. Lange and her husband Perry of Annandale, VA; two grandchildren, Andrew C. Salisbury and Alexandra L. Salisbury; a niece, Patricia O’Toole; and a nephew, Joseph O’Toole. In addition to her parents, Brenda was predeceased by her sisters, Patricia O’Toole and Mary “Mae” Cronin; and a niece, Ann Kyne.
Calling hours will be held at the FARWELL FUNERAL HOME, 18 Lock Street, Nashua on Thursday evening, May 14th from 5 to 9 p.m. Her funeral service will be held in the funeral home Friday morning at 11 a.m. followed by interment in Edgewood Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to attend. Arrangements are in the care of the FARWELL FUNERAL SERVICE. (603) 882-0591. www.farwellfuneral.com
