Peter Joseph Kilday III, 67, of Nashua, passed away Monday, January 28, 2019 at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center after a brief illness.

Born in the Jamaica Plain section of Boston, Massachusetts on November 15, 1951, he was the son of the late Peter J. and Irene (Murray) Kilday. Peter grew up in Marlboro, Massachusetts and was a graduate of Marlboro High School Class of 1969. He furthered his education at the former New England Aeronautical Institute in Nashua, graduating in 1971.

A resident of Nashua since 1972, Peter worked as an Air Traffic controller at the Boston Center in Nashua for thirty-seven years, retiring in 2007. Through many years, he trained and mentored many young air traffic controllers, teaching his craft. He was later recruited to go to Oklahoma City to teach at the FAA Academy for three years.

Peter was an avid golfer and with a great drive, playing with friends for over twenty years. He played many courses around New England, then ventured on to St. Andrews in Scotland and Pebble Beach, California. As an excellent golfer as he was, he was an incredible teacher of the nuances of the sport.

He coached baseball youngsters in Northwest Nashua for many years during the 1980s. Peter also coached at Elm Street Middle School until 2015 when a baseball injury forced him to retire from coaching.

Peter was a proud and active member of Nashua Lodge #720, Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks for 44 years. He held the office of Exalted Ruler twice and chaired many committees. Peter enjoyed the charitable aspects of Life as an Elk member. He was a doting husband, father and grandfather, who enjoyed spending a lot of time with his beloved wife, children and granddaughters.

Members of his family include his wife of 46 years, Helen (Blazejewski) Kilday; his daughter, Jennifer (Kilday) Neveu and her husband Nathan; his son, Brian Kilday; two granddaughters, Rosalie and Katrina Neveu; his sisters, Irene Richardson and her husband Charlie, Karen Kilday Harper and her husband Kevin, and the late Dianne M. Kilday; his nephews, Michael, Spencer, Nicholas and Peter and their families. Peter will be missed by many cousins, in-laws, friends and co-workers.

Calling hours will be held at the FARWELL FUNERAL HOME, 18 Lock Street, Nashua on Friday, February 1st from 4 to 7 p.m. An Elks Service will be conducted in the funeral home, Friday evening at 6:40 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Nashua Elks #720 Youth Committee, 12 Murphy Drive, Nashua, NH 00362.
