Stephen L. Roberto, obituary, Farwell Funeral Service, Nashua, NH

Stephen L. Roberto, 61, of Hudson and formerly of Litchfield, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, February 14, 2019.

Born in Lynn, Massachusetts on July 6, 1957, he is a son of Lori (Lebel) Roberto of Hudson, NH. During his youth, Steve resided in Wakefield, MA and was a graduate of Wakefield High School Class of 1975. Afterwards he enlisted in the Air Force and became a Sergeant. He served for almost 10 years. Mr. Roberto was stationed in Germany and South Korea as a Tactical Aircraft Maintenance Technician.

After his honorable discharge, Steve made his home in Litchfield for twenty years and has resided in Hudson for the past two years. He has been employed with the Humane Society for Greater Nashua.

In his leisure time, he loved playing and spending time with his grandchildren, fishing and his dog, Ginger.

Members of his family include his mother, Lori Roberto of Hudson, NH; his daughter, Melissa A. Roberto of Nashua; his son, Stephen M. Roberto of Litchfield; and two grandchildren, Torah and Kyroh.

His funeral service will be held in the FARWELL FUNERAL HOME, 18 Lock Street, Nashua on Thursday morning, February 21^st at 11 o’clock followed by interment at St. Patrick Cemetery in Hudson. Friends are invited to attend. There are no calling hours. Donations may be made in his memory to the Humane Society for Greater Nashua, 24 Ferry Road, Nashua, NH 03064.

Dear Stephen, I just learned of your passing and am so terribly sad. I'm trying to remind myself not to be sad for your passing but to be glad for the life you lived and all of the happiness you brought through your compassion for animals. I have so many fond memories of the years we volunteered together at the HSFN. But none as sweet as the special care you took of two small kittens that came in March 2010 and didn't leave until the following year in April/May 2011. I want to let you know they are doing great and are so very thankful for your advocacy, kindness and snuggles when they were just so tiny and vulnerable.

Stephen, You are one of a kind. My condolences to your family. Your dad was such a great and funny kid growing up. He could throw a baseball further than anyone I have ever known. Steve please say hi to Chuck for me.

I was very saddened to hear of the loss of my Cousin Stephen. We lost touch over the years as often happens however I have very fond memories of our childhood together and times spent at my childhood home in Hudson and with him and my Aunt Lori in Wakefield. My deepest sympathies for my Aunt, Stephen's children, grandchildren and friends. He will be greatly missed. RIP Cousin.

I am so sad at the passing of my cousin Steven. He was such a big part of our lives and such fond memories of our childhood. He will truly be missed by all of us who were blessed to have known him. RIP Cousin.

I knew Steve very well. Many years ago he helped me adopt my Baby, whom he named Amani. My Baby came to the Humane Society as a feral during the electrical ice storm of November, 2008. His brothers were adopted, one died and Baby was left with a cigar burn on his back. Every day I would come into the shelter and find Steve cradling this poor kitty until he was able to come home with me. I would take Baby to visit Steve every week; he remembered Steve as he ran to him every time. I will also remember Steve as a compassionate care giver and animal lover. Baby would love to be cradled while looking directly into his eyes, just as Steve taught him. I will be forever grateful to Steve for giving me my little love bug. Baby just passed away recently and I hope they will be reunited with the same love that brought them together 10 years ago. Rest in peace Steve and Baby.

Steve was a fixture in the cat room with a passion to protect and care for the animals in his care. When I stopped in to visit, he always had a smile and a wealth of information to share about each of the cats waiting to find a home. Steve will be missed by everyone lucky enough to know him - on two legs and four!

I am deeply saddened to hear of Steves passing. He always had a smile, a song, a joke and would always try to brighten others day. His great love of animals was obvious with all his efforts put forth to make their lives better daily at the Humane Society. I will miss you my friend. Rest peacefully.

Very sad news that cousin Stephen has passed from us.Prayers for your loss and especially for my Aunt Lori.I have many fond and happy memories my cousin Stephen from our childhood visits in Wakefield.He was a very lively upbeat character and I am happy he found joy in life helping innocent animals.I will miss you Stephen and am very sad.,Denise.
