Gwendoline Winn, 83, of Amherst, NH, widow of Charles F. Winn, passed away peacefully on Tuesday afternoon, February 19, 2019 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack.
A native of Elsemere Port, England, Mrs. Winn was born on January 5, 1936, a daughter of the late Francis and Margaret Evans. Educated in England, Gwendoline and her husband Charlie, a U.S. Serviceman, were married in England in January 1954. The couple came to the United States and settled in the Nashua area.
Gwendoline became a United States citizen and furthered her education at the St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing. A Licensed Practical Nurse, she had been employed at the Rockingham County Nursing Home and later at Fairview Nursing Home in Hudson for many years.
After she and her husband retired, they resided in Florida for a time and in Amherst, NH.
Members of her family include her son, David C. Winn and his wife, Ellen Ostreicher of Rindge; three grandchildren, Jared Winn of Norfolk, VA, Kelli Winn of Munich, Germany and the late Adam Winn; three great-grandchildren, Curtis, Celina and Ava Winn; and her sister, Kathleen of Las Vegas, Nevada.
There are no calling hours. Mrs. Winn will be laid to rest next to her husband at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen at a later date.
