Arthur G. “Pete” Farinha, 82, of Nashua, passed away Saturday morning, July 6, 2019 at the Bedford Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, after a period of declining health.
Born in Lowell, Massachusetts on January 8, 1937, he was a son of the late Anthony and Dolores (LaPlante) Farinha. Pete was educated in Lowell schools and served in the Navy as a Seaman Apprentice from December 1954 to January 1958.
Pete began his career as a tractor trailer driver with Baker Commodities, Inc. of Lowell and later with Ryder transport company. He retired after working for 45 years.
A resident of New Hampshire since 1983 and previously of Massachusetts, Pete enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. He also loved spending time with his family.
Members of his family include his beloved wife of 36 years, Judith A. “Judy” (Howe) Farinha of Nashua, whom he married on July 4, 1983; two daughters, Janet Farinha of Reading, MA and Karen Berg and her husband Chad of Kennesaw, GA; two sons, Peter Farinha and his wife Lynn of Taunton, MA and Anthony Farinha of Concord, NH; eleven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren; five step-children, thirteen step-grandchildren and nine step-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Norma Farinha of Connecticut, Joanne Burns of Lowell, MA and Carol Balsamo of Salem, NH; also many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Pete was also predeceased by a brother, Donald Farinha of Tennessee; and a sister, Dolores Farinha of Lowell, MA.
There are no calling hours. His funeral service will be held in the FARWELL FUNERAL HOME, 18 Lock Street, Nashua on Monday, July 22nd at 10 a.m. followed by interment and Navy Honors at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen.
