Katherine Anne “Kate” Morman, 83, of Bedford, NH and formerly of Nashua, wife of Kenneth F. Morman, passed away Tuesday morning, October 29, 2019 at her home at Bedford Falls, after a brief illness.
Mrs. Morman was born in Worcester, Massachusetts on June 12, 1936, a daughter of the late John M. and Annabell (McCready) Gallagher. Kate grew up in Holyoke, MA and graduated from Holyoke High School in 1954. She continued her education at New England College in Henniker, NH where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree and then went onto Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Springfield, MA for three years, graduating as a Registered Nurse.
After college, Kate worked as a Pediatric Nurse at Providence Hospital in Holyoke, MA for several years. She then entered Private Duty Nursing and loved the one on one difference she made in the lives of her patients. One special boy was Michael Berry whom she cared for almost ten years and whom was a great source of inspiration; almost as like a 2nd son as well.
Kate never met a good cookbook or gardening book she did not love! She had a great collection. Kate loved to cook and plant flowers, especially Sunflowers in her garden. Neighbors called her an artistic landscaper! Traveling was a passion with her husband, Ken. Favorite locations included the Midwest, California, Ireland and lounging around the pool, Margarita in hand with best friend Doris, at The Cape.
A lifetime member of The Catholic Daughters of The Americas, she supported many local charities as well.
Members of her family include her husband Ken, whom she married in Holyoke, MA on June 6, 1964 and shared 55 years together; her son and daughter-in-law, Neal and Hali of Santa Monica, CA; a brother and two sisters-in-law, Ned “James” and Terry Gallagher; and Lucy Gallagher. She was predeceased by two brothers, John and Patrick Gallagher.
