On Christmas Day our community lost Theresa M. Romano.
Terry believed she was truly blessed, born to a family with great love and devotion to each other. She knew it was a gift for which she was always grateful. Terry was raised to put others first, to see those frequently overlooked, and to help make lives better for those in need.
Terry was well known for her philanthropic work. Her generous gifts to organizations and institutions whose work she believed in are well known. In addition to her monetary contributions, she gave her time, wisdom and endless kindness. She served on and chaired many community boards both here and in Massachusetts. Her empathy often found her sharing the pain of those she thought were suffering.
Education was of great value to her and she believed everyone should have access regardless of their financial ability. She loved history, the sciences and thought everyone should be an active citizen in their community, their country and our world. She found great joy in simple things; children’s laughter, music, dancing, art and history, all of which were best when shared.
From Europe to Boston, her family roots run deep. Her 88 years of life’s experiences were nothing short of remarkable. Somehow, although one would think it couldn’t compare, her adopted small yet dearly loved city of Nashua, gave her great joy. Her “family” of friends each had a treasured and special relationship with her.
Terry was pre-deceased by far too many loved ones to count, and is survived by so very many lives she touched. Terry was a woman of deep faith and believed things were meant to be. Terry woke to a balmy 60 degrees on Christmas Day with the knowledge that the Christmas Star last seen in the year 1226 graced the sky and that it was her day to leave this earth in peace.
In honor of Terry, please consider the gift of an unexpected and unsolicited act of kindness for some poor unfortunate soul. This time of year in particular, she was overcome with concern for those that are homeless and hungry.
