John A. Worthen III

John A. Worthen III, son of John A. Worthen Jr. and Mary Singleton Worthen, Died May 7, 2021 after a brief illness. He was born in Nashua, N.H. on May 17, 1928. Graduated from Nashua High School in 1945 and from UNH in 1950 with a BS degree in Business Administration. He pursued graduate studies in Business at UNH and at Harvard University.

John was a veteran of WWII, serving in Germany as a Sergeant with the 25th Constabulary Squadron. During the Korean War, he was recalled from the Air Force Reserve and served as First Lieutenant with the 4707the Defense Wing at Otis Air Field in Massachusetts.

He spent 38 years with John Hancock Insurance Company, retiring as a Senior Vice President in Mortgage Investments. John served as Director of Maritime Life Insurance Company of Halifax, Novia Scotia, of Treasure Masters Inc. of Derry, N.H., and of Real Estate Investment Trust of Clinton, N.J.

John was a beloved husband and father who was very happily married to the love of his life, Patricia, and was proud of the sixty -eight great years they spent together. He leaves their son Jack Coombes Worthen of Parkland, Florida, their daughter, Cynthia Worthen Vascak of Campton, N.H. and three grandchildren, Brian, Laura, and Julie Worthen.

He enjoyed playing golf, tennis, sailing, traveling through Europe, and a good game of bridge.

The service will be held at The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, 214 Main Street, Nashua, NH. at 1:00 pm on Saturday, June 5th. Committal prayers and Army honors will follow at the Edgewood Cemetery, 107 Amherst Street, Nashua.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations in John’s memory to be made to the Church of the Good Shepherd to support their service work with the Front Door Agency and their Community Action projects.
