Claire I. Beebie, 94, a longtime Litchfield resident, widow of Russell J. Beebie, passed away at her home early Wednesday morning, July 7, 2021 in the company of her loving family.
Mrs. Beebie was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts on Valentine’s Day in 1927, a daughter of the late Joseph and Yvonne (Comeau) Beliveau. A graduate of St. Anne’s High School in Lawrence, Claire joined the Nurse’s Cadet Corps through St. Joseph Hospital in Lowell near the end of World War II. She attended St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing, graduating as a Registered Nurse in 1948.
Claire began her career in nursing at St. Joseph Hospital in Lowell from 1948 to 1986 and then worked for the late Drs. Charles Goyette, Normand Cote and Joseph Duval, Professional Association of Nashua.
A resident of Litchfield for the past 58 years, Claire previously made her home in Nashua from 1950 to 1963. She and her husband Russ, were married on October 14, 1950 and shared 48 years together until his passing on November 4, 1998.
Members of her family include her three children, Elaine L. Elliott and her husband Garry of Haverhill, NH, and twins, Karen M. Beebie and Russell J. Beebie, Jr. of Litchfield; three grandchildren, Ben Elliott and his wife Maria of Vieques, Puerto Rico, Carol Elliott of Buzzards Bay, MA and Hannah Elliott of Dover, NH; a great-grandson, Benny Elliott; special friends, Doreen Weiss and Barbara Strickland; also many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends of the Annandale on the River Community in Litchfield. In addition to her husband and parents, Claire was predeceased by her beloved brother, Eugene Beliveau and his wife Theresa and their family; and her daughter-in-law, Sharon L. Beebie.
Calling hours will be held at the FARWELL FUNERAL HOME, 18 Lock Street, Nashua on Thursday, July 15th from 5 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Francis of Assisi Church, St. Francis Way in Litchfield, Friday morning at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery in Hudson. Family and friends are invited to attend. Donations may be made in her memory to the Disabled American Veterans.
