Jacqueline Cecile Niquette, 88, a longtime Nashua resident and more recently of Peterborough, passed away early Friday morning, September 24, 2021 at Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough, after a brief illness. She was the widow of Irenee G. “Rene” Niquette.
Born in Moosup, Connecticut on February 2, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Georgianna (Desjardins) Courcy. “Jackie” and her family moved to Nashua in the late 1930s and made her home here for many years. For the past six years, she has resided in Peterborough with her daughter, Cecile.
Mrs. Niquette attended the former St. Louis de Gonzague Parochial School. In addition to raising her family, she was a sales lady for Avon; and house cleaning for several Nashua families. Jackie also worked for Irwin Toy, Sprague Electric Company and Bemis Bag, until her retirement.
Some of her favorite hobbies were gardening, especially growing Rhubard and tomatoes. Jackie enjoyed watching Dancing with the Stars. A very religious woman, she was a communicant of the former St. Francis Xavier Church and then St. Louis de Gonzague Church, and was active in the various activities of both parishes.
Jackie and Rene were married on September 12, 1953 and made their home on Shattuck Street for many years. The couple shared 38 years together until his passing on December 6, 1991. She was also predeceased by an infant son, Maurice N. Niquette in February 1959; two brothers, Patrick and Joe Courcy; and a sister, Doris A. Bartosiewicz.
Members of her family include three daughters, Cecile Niquette of Peterborough, Therese D. Gammell and her husband Everett, and Gertrude M. Hebert and her husband Glen, all of Nashua; seven grandchildren, Jason W. Cote, Jeremy G. Cote, Joshua T. Cote, Jennifer Haggett, Jacob A. Gammell, Scott T. Hebert and Karissa Hebert; fourteen great-grandchildren; a sister, Claire M. Peddle of Nashua; also many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be held at the FARWELL FUNERAL HOME, 18 Lock Street, Nashua on Tuesday, September 28th from 6 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Louis de Gonzague Church, 50 West Hollis Street, Nashua, Wednesday morning at 10 o’clock. Interment will follow in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to attend and are asked to meet at the church.
