   Donald A. Lavoie, 76, a lifelong Nashua resident, passed away at his home, Monday morning, November 22, 2021, after a period of declining health.         

   Born in Nashua on November 7, 1945, he was a son of the late Albert Leo and Germaine Mary (Roy) Lavoie. Don grew up in the French Hill neighborhood and attended the former St. Francis Xavier Parochial School. A graduate of Nashua High School Class of 1963, Mr. Lavoie enlisted into the Air Force on September 17, 1963 and served until August 5, 1967 and held the rank of Airman First Class.

   After his military service, Don was employed with Nashua Corporation from 1968 to 2000. During his 32 years there, he worked in many capacities to becoming a laboratory technician.

   An active sportsman, Don played for the Nashua Corporation Men’s Slow Pitch Softball Team and later served as coach of the team that won the 1977 New Hampshire State Industrial Slow-Pitch Championship title. In 1990, Don received certification from the Amateur Softball Association of America, after completion of the national softball umpire school in Lewiston, Maine. In his leisure time, Don was a fan of the Boston sports teams.  

   Members of his family include his wife of 54 years, Jeanne C. (Picard) Lavoie, whom he married on October 28, 1967; his children, Janice A. Lavoie, Kenneth A. Lavoie and predeceased by an infant daughter, Donna Jean Lavoie; a sister, Juliette Smith; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Barbara and Joe Levesque, Roland N. Jr. and Linda Picard, and Diane Morgan; also nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Don was also predeceased by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Roland N. and Susie E. (Dutton) Picard; and his brother-in-law Donald B. Picard.  

     Calling hours will be held at the FARWELL FUNERAL HOME, 18 Lock Street, Nashua on Thursday evening, December 2nd from 6 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Joseph The Worker Parish, 777 West Hollis Street, Nashua on Friday, December 3rd at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery. Friends are invited to attend. Donations may be made in his memory to the Nashua Soup Kitchen, 2 Quincy Street, Nashua, NH 03060.
