Fiery, Rosemary OBIT

Rosemary B. Fiery, 85, longtime resident of Nashua, was called home to the Lord on November 27, 2021 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Nashua surrounded by family.  She was born in Washington D.C. on December 7, 1935 to the late Bruce and Mary (Critcher) Bagwell.  Rosemary attended Northwestern High School in Hyattsville, MD graduating with the Class of 1953.  Before relocating to Nashua with her family in 1967, she worked for the US Chamber of Commerce in Washington DC.  After settling in the Merrimack Valley, Rosemary continued her career as the school secretary for Birch Hill Elementary School until her retirement.

Rosemary, was a truly passionate and selfless woman who always helped those who were less fortunate than herself.   She volunteered countless hours for many of the causes she believed in; as a poll attendant in many of the local elections, as a caregiver for the Caregivers of Nashua, providing the elderly with much needed services so they can stay in their homes as long as possible and as a special needs volunteer at Birch Hill Elementary.

Rosemary enjoyed many of the simple pleasures in life; she loved gardening and travelling.  As the beloved matriarch of her family, she will fondly be missed, cherished and loved by all.

Rosemary is survived by her dear husband, Dr. Kenneth A. Fiery, also of Nashua, with whom she celebrated 66 years of marriage together.  She was the loving mother to her two sons; John Fiery and his wife Danielle of Amherst and William Evan Fiery of and his wife Dorothy of Fredricksburg, VA.  Rosemary was also the proud grandmother to Lauren and Matthew and is also survived by her sister, Caroline Hopkins of Rockville, MD and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Bruce Bagwell.

To honor Rosemary’s wishes, all services were privately held.  Please consider a donation in her memory to either the Salvation Army, 1 Montgomery Ave, Nashua, NH 03060 or to Autism Speaks, 88 Broad Street, 5th Floor, Boston, MA 02110.  To leave an online condolence, please visit www.farwellfuneralservice.com.  Arrangements under the direction of FARWELL Funeral Service.

Remember when you were a kid and lucky enough to have a friend with a “great mom”? You know, super nice and understanding? That was Mrs. Fiery to me. Through the miles and the years, Rosemary always had that smile. Condolences to Ken, Bill, and the Fiery family. I will miss her.

Ken, how blessed you were to have Rosemary as your loving wife. She was such a strong woman of faith, willing to share our Lord with others. Her welcoming smile and words were my introduction to Birch Hill School in 1991 and I witnessed her “widening the circle” as she loved to do. And when I retired in 2007, the magnificent forsythia bushes she had planted on the back hill were blooming like a “crown of glory,” as she would say. Wishing God’s love to you and your family.

Our sincere condolences to Ken and the Fiery family. Your loss is a loss felt throughout Nashua but especially within the Birch Hill neighborhood and community. Rosemary was the first person to greet me in the summer of 1995 and put to rest all of the anxiety I experiencing in going into a new position. Her warm and welcoming greeting was one that she shared with thousands of Birch Hill students and parents throughout her many years there. Rosemary was Birch Hill. Sue and I got to continue our relationship well past our time at Birch Hill and those moments will be forever cherished.

Please accept my condolences on the loss of Mrs. Fiery. She was such a lovely lady, and she was a pillar of kindness during my childhood at Birch Hill School. She was always smiling, even when I would see her years later when voting in elections.
