Jacqueline ‘Jackie’ Legendre Gile, 92, a longtime Hudson resident, died peacefully at home on Saturday evening, March 12, 2022, surrounded by family after a period of declining health.
Daughter of the late Joseph and Gabrielle (Cadieux) Legendre, Jackie was born in Manchester on July 25, 1929. During her youth Jackie resided in Derry and was the Valedictorian of Pinkerton Academy, Class of 1948. Following graduation she worked for a short time before marrying George Gile on February 16, 1951, and moving to California where her first two children were born. Jackie and George later settled in Hudson, where Jackie raised their seven children and lived for the remainder of her life.
Jackie supported her husband and children’s various entrepreneurial endeavors throughout the years, serving as a bookkeeper with Hudson Bait Company and later with Steve Gile’s Auto. Her most important and beloved vocation, however, was being a devoted mother and “Memere” for her large family.
In addition to her husband George; Jackie was also predeceased by her parents; her sister (Rita Demers) and granddaughter (Angela Gile). She is survived by her seven children: Richard (Barbara) Gile of Hudson; Stephen (Debra) Gile of Derry; Annette (Daniel) Crawford of Litchfield; Daniel (Heidi) Gile of Loon Lake, WA; David (Stephanie) Gile of Fort Myers, FL; Brenda (Robert) Dean of Seabrook; and Susan Burton of Litchfield. She also is survived by 13 grandchildren: Shawn Gile, Sarah Acome, Nicole Zelli, Timothy Gile, David Gile Jr., Iziah Gile, Jenna Wittenberg, Cassilyn Burton, Christine Gile, Kirsten Dean, Chelsea Dean, Jacob Burton, Krisal Gile; 14 great-grandchildren: Catherine Gile, Shawna Gile, Christopher Gile, Hailey Godin, Aiden Gile, Thomas Zelli, Andrew Zelli, Benjamin Zelli, Emilia Moonie, Lily Gile, Lucia Zelli, George Zelli, Annika Wittenberg, Jaxson Gile; 4 great-great-grandchildren: Arius Barber, Maeve Barber, Dillon Turner, Kellan Barber; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Viewing of Jackie will take place on Friday, March 25th from 9 am to 10 am at the Farwell Funeral Home, 18 Lock Street, Nashua. A Catholic Mass will be held at 10:30 am at Saint Kathryn Church, 4 Dracut Road, Hudson, followed immediately by the burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, Gilcreast Road, Londonderry. A gathering for family and friends will be held at The Executive Court Banquet Facility, 1199 S. Mammoth Road, Manchester, from 1 pm to 4 pm.
