   Arthur G. Belair, 85, of Nashua, passed away at his home, Thursday afternoon, March 31, 2022, surrounded by his loving family, after a period of declining health.

Arthur was the husband of the late Simone R. (Petrain) Belair, who passed away July 25, 2020. They were married on August 8, 1959 and shared 61 wonderful years together.        

    A Nashua native, Arthur was born on October 18, 1936, the only child of the late Arthur A. and Alma R. (Morin) Belair. He was educated in Nashua schools and was a graduate of Southern New Hampshire University. An Air Force veteran, Mr. Belair was stationed in Japan during the Korean War and served from June 24, 1955 to June 23, 1959.

    Arthur began his career working with his father at Belair’s Market and later at the former 20th Century Supermarket both of Nashua. He then worked at the  Nashua Post Office before becoming Post Master of Hollis, NH from 1982 until his retirement in late 1992. After he retired, Arthur worked part-time at Hannaford’s in Nashua.

    In his leisure time, he enjoyed bowling, bingo and working on small engines. Arthur also coached his son’s little league baseball team and his granddaughter’s softball team. He especially loved spending time with his family.

    He was a very active member and treasurer of the Disabled American Veterans, Gate City Chapter #7, and was a former member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 122 of Nashua.

     A resident of Nashua for many years, Arthur and his wife Simone also made their home in Hollis for many years before moving back to Nashua to reside with their daughter and son-in-law, Rolande and Wayne Auger.   

   Members of his family include his four children and their spouses, Rolande and Wayne Auger, Normand and Lisa Belair, Lucille and Jeff Kowalik, and Roger and Jane Belair; seven grandchildren, Matthew Adams, Kaitlyn Belair, Erika Belair, Jacob Worrell, Corey Belair, Kyrie and Chelsea Kowalik; five great-grandchildren, Jeremy Adams, Leo and Roman Worrell, Sean Patrick McMeniman, III, and Michael Belair; also many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his cousins, Muriel and Fred Belair.

   The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Home Health & Hospice for their care and support of Arthur.

    There are no calling hours. A graveside service and Air Force honors will take place in St. Louis Cemetery, 752 West Hollis Street, Nashua, Thursday, April 7th at 11 a.m. Family and friends are invited to attend.
