Joyce, her sister Nancy, and I -- her oldest nephew -- grew up together as brother and sisters. We lived at 15 Kinsley Street, and later at 9 Kinsley, in Nashua and attended the James B. Crowley Grammar School on Lake Street. Her parents (my grandparents) were instrumental in raising us to enjoy life and remain close to the family, which we did. Our pre-teen years were spent in tight companionship, led by Joyce's sense of humor and playful attitude toward almost everything. They were fun times. As we grew older, our activities and interests diverged somewhat, but we always enjoyed each other's company, despite distances brought on when I, and then Nancy, married and resided in Connecticut. Joyce had an interesting career, especially as a U.S. Marine and in the travel business. She visited various places. even Australia on an astronomy tour, and lived for awhile in Southern Florida. Wherever she went, she found things to do that benefitted her wide-ranging curiosity about animals (especially cats) and Nature in general. She was generous with her time and family affairs and gave of herself in many ways and circumstances, paying particular attention to the many nieces and nephews that became the center of her activities. Everyone liked Joyce, overcoming occasional differences in controversies about national politics. Joyce Carol Clement, the last of the original Clement brood, will always be remembered with fondness and appreciation. Her life was well-lived.
