Ramon Elias Jaramillo, 80, of Brookline, NH, passed away Friday morning, April 7th, 2023 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack after a prolonged battle with Parkinson’s disease and Lewy Body Dementia.
A native of Cali, Colombia, he was born on August 31st, 1942, one of nine children of the late Ramon and Enelia (Hernandez) Jaramillo. Educated in Colombia, Ramon double majored in mechanical and electrical engineering at the Universidad del Valle in Cali. He then came to the U.S. to pursue his Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh. Mr. Jaramillo was also a Ph.D. candidate at Carnegie Mellon University for Biomedical Engineering.
Ramon began his career with Raytheon from 1978 to 1981 and then worked for the U.S. Department of the Navy in Washington, D.C. from 1981 to 2003. After he retired, he returned to Raytheon where he worked from 2005 to 2011.
A resident of Brookline since 2006, Ramon was a golfer, an avid follower of politics, a soccer enthusiast, and above all, a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was an avid Motown, classical and Colombian music lover.
Members of his family include his loving wife of 40 years, Kathy S. King D.M.D., whom he married on September 25th, 1982; his daughters, Elisa and Kara Jaramillo; granddaughter, Thalia Jaramillo; his brothers and sisters, Mario, Fernando, Harold, Oscar, Clara, Victor Hugo and Luz Marina; also, thirty nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Ramon was predeceased by five siblings (including four half siblings), Alicia, Trinidad, Julio, Graciela, and Ramiro. Most importantly, he will be remembered for his devotion to his family and his profound sense of integrity towards his work.
Calling hours will be held at the FARWELL FUNERAL HOME, 18 Lock Street, Nashua on Tuesday, April 11th from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Family and friends are invited to attend. His funeral service will be privately held the following day in the Farwell Funeral Home.
