Irene (Laflotte) Major, 78, of Londonderry, NH, widow of Richard D. Major, passed away peacefully at her home, Wednesday evening, May 10, 2023, after a period of declining health.
A resident of Londonderry for many years, Irene was born in Nashua on July 11, 1944, a daughter of the late John and Lea (Bilodeau) Laflotte. Irene grew up on Gaffney Street in Nashua and was a graduate of Nashua High School, Class of 1963. She had been employed with the Londonderry Police Department as a dispatcher and file clerk until her retirement on November 28, 2005.
In her leisure time, Irene enjoyed gardening, feeding animals and traveling. Irene and her husband Richard were married on June 20, 1964 and shared 41 years together until his passing in 2005.
Members of her family include her three children, Sandra L. (Major) Jumpe and her husband John F. Jumpe, Jr., Karen R. (Major) Rowe, and John J. Major; her grandchildren, William R. Rowe, Elizabeth M. Jumpe and Carson Gardipe, Joshua D. Rowe and Stanley Jumpe; her friend, Gail Everchuck of Danville, VA; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Irene was also predeceased by three brothers and their wives, Leo and Raymonde Laflotte of Nashua, NH, Maurice and Henrietta Laflotte of Hollis, NH, and Gene and Connie Laflotte of Palm Bay, FL; and two sisters, Julie (Laflotte) Duval and her husband Armand Duval of Nashua and Jeanne (Laflotte) Patterson, who was married to Larry Patterson of Payson, AZ.
Family and friends are invited to the FARWELL FUNERAL HOME, 18 Lock Street, Nashua on Saturday, May 20th from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Her funeral service will follow in the funeral home at 11:30 a.m. Interment will take place in Edgewood Cemetery.
