Charles P. Morse, 92, of Nashua, passed away on September 19, 2023 after a brief illness.
Charles also known as “Chuck and Charlie” by his family and friends was born in Nashua on June 13, 1931, son of George and Gertrude (Maddox) Morse. He was the eighth of nine children. Charlie was the husband of the late Gloria S. Berube who passed away May 15, 2010, to whom he was married for 52 years.
Members of his family include his three children and their spouses: Gary C. and Sue Morse of Nashua, NH, Kevin P. and Laura Morse of Gambrillis, MD and Carla Cline and the late Jeff Cline of Kennebunk, ME; he was known as “Pa” to his eight grandchildren and their spouses and as “Great Pa” to his six great-grandchildren; his sisters, Elaine Cardin and Betty Rodgers of Nashua; and many nieces and nephews. Charlie was predeceased by six siblings: Irene Morse, Paul Morse, Raymond Morse, Marion Deery, George Morse and Richard Morse.
Educated in local schools, he attended Nashua High School and was the Quarterback of the Purple Panthers football team and was named the MVP. He proudly served in the Navy during the Korean War. After his military service, Charlie married Gloria on August 17, 1957 and went on to raise three children.
Mr. Morse was employed at Nashua Corporation where he held various positions during his tenure of 40 years before his retirement.
Following his retirement, Charlie enjoyed spending time up in Pittsburg, NH, where he owned two homes over the years. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, taking beach trips with his wife Gloria; deep sea fishing, golfing, watching the Patriots and Red Sox games, and taking long back road drives all over New England. Charlie also loved cooking elaborate meals (enough to feed an army!), for his entire family with Thanksgiving being his favorite holiday! In his later years he and his companion of 11 years, Lucille Lockwood of Nashua, enjoyed taking senior bus travel trips where they got to tour many sites and reveled in their adventures together. Lastly, Charlie adored his grandchildren deeply and over the years, enjoyed attending their various sporting and musical events to cheer them on!
There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Patrick Church, 29 Spring Street, Nashua, Friday, October 6th at 9 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery in Hudson.
