Got to know Doug on the many drives back and forth from WPI on weekends in the early 80s. Lots of good conversations about fluid dynamics and things I could not understand but I appreciated his passion and expertise on the subject. The world has lost someone smart and compassionate who was dedicated to his family and friends.

Ever since meeting Doug freshman year at WPI, his kindness, intelligence and caring never faltered, and always formed the hallmark of his character. First he was a good friend to me, then to both my wife and I, and then to our two children, who always looked forward to his visits. We will miss Doug greatly. Paul and Mary Cotnoir
