Former Nashua resident Bruce Charles Landry, 71, died Sunday, November 1, 2015 peacefully in his home surrounded by family and friends after a courageous 2-year battle with brain cancer.
Bruce was born on July 24, 1944 and raised in Nashua, NH. He attended Nashua High School and graduated in 1962. He enlisted in the US Army following graduation and served his country honorably from 1963 to 1966, spending most of his time stationed in Germany. Bruce worked his entire career after leaving the Army, as a quality control specialist for Sanders/Lockheed Martin/Benchmark. During his 35-year career, Bruce exuded a strong work ethic and forged life-long friendships before retiring in 2003.
He lived in Nashua NH with his wife of 48 years, Louise Landry, and retired to Summerfield, Florida in 2003. He enjoyed all sports and loved rooting for his New England sports teams. He was passionate for softball, which he played competitively throughout his lifetime and well into retirement. He belonged to Nashua Senior Softball during the summer months and Spruce Creek Country Club Softball during the winter and spring months. He loved exploring golf courses across the country, summers at the cottage in Westford MA, and spending time with family and friends. Bruce had a big heart for all variety of animals and was famous for taking in injured animals to nurse them back to health.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Louise (Descouteaux) Landry; daughter Beth Francis and her husband Rich Francis of Beverly, MA; sisters Laura (Honey) Juonis, Gloria Berube, Pauline Declos, and Richard (Porky) Landry. He loved and cherished his two grandchildren, Natalia and Griffin Francis. He was predeceased by his sisters Shirley Baker, Nancy Hunt, Mabel (Mickey) Courounis, and brother Leonard Landry.
A celebration of life will take place at Spruce Creek Country Club in Summerfield Florida before Bruce’s ashes are brought home to Nashua, NH. Visiting hours will be held at the FARWELL FUNERAL HOME, 18 Lock Street, Nashua, NH on Saturday, November 14th, from 10:00am – 12:00 noon. There will be a private burial of his ashes by his family at a later date.
