Alda M. Moriarty, 95, a longtime Nashua resident, widow of Kenneth P. Moriarty, passed away Wednesday evening, November 30, 2016 at St. Joseph Hospital from complications due to a recent fall at her home.
Mrs. Moriarty was born in Lowell, Massachusetts on February 15, 1921, one of ten children of the late Charles and Antonia DeJesus. A resident of Nashua since the age of 12, Alda was educated in the Nashua School System. As a young woman, she was employed in the mills of the former Nashua Manufacturing Company and the former J.F. McElwain Shoe Company, where she made boots for the U.S. Military during World War II.
In her leisure time, Alda enjoyed music and dancing; playing bingo and loved cooking and baking pies. On Thanksgiving day last week, Alda cooked dinner for her family.
Alda and her husband Kenneth were married on July 9, 1949 shared nearly 66 years together until his passing on May 27, 2015.
Members of her family include her five children, Philip K. Moriarty of Nashua, Linda M. Moriarty and her partner Phil Caron of Manchester, Charlotte A. Moriarty and her partner Christine M. Freeman of Nashua, Daniel P. Moriarty and his wife Victoria of Nashua and Frank Moriarty and his wife Lucille of Northwood;
eight grandchildren, Jude L. Little, Jesse J. Little, Cookie A. Prive, Lee F. Moriarty, Michael K. Moriarty, Jeffrey Williams, Timothy Mullikin and Kelly Joseph; four great-grandchildren, Dominick Prive, Adeline Moriarty-Golon, Ryan and Dylan Joseph; also many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband and parents, Alda was predeceased by six brothers, Tony, John, Frank, Manny, Joe and Adam; and three sisters, Mary, Angie and Adelaide “Ida”.
Calling hours will be held at the FARWELL FUNERAL HOME, 18 Lock Street, Nashua on Sunday afternoon, December 4th from 2 to 5 p.m. A Graveside Service will take place at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Route 3 in Boscawen, Monday morning at 10 o’clock.
