Alexander P. Gurskis, 77 yrs. old of Nashua, NH, passed away peacefully at home, on Friday October 27, 2017. He was predeceased by the love of his life and wife of 52 yrs., Joanbeth L. Gurskis (Dimond) and his parents, Peter and Anna Gurskis.
Al was a life-long resident of Nashua, born at Nashua Memorial Hospital on April 24,1940. He was a graduate of Nashua High School, class of 1957. After which time he was offered an Architectural Scholarship but declined, to instead follow his heart by becoming a devoted, loving husband and proud father to 5 beautiful children.
Al’s strong sense of commitment was further evident by his lengthy career at the Nashua Telegraph. After starting there as a paperboy, he held several positions until he eventually retired as a Pressman in 2005 after nearly 48 years. He was best known and appreciated by his co-workers for his hard work, playful sense of humor and willingness to help anyone in need.
Al was a true family man. Through the years, he and his wife continued to fill their hearts and open their home to extended family, friends and anyone who needed a warm meal, place to stay or an ear to listen. It was Al’s humble, kind nature and his philosophy to “never take himself too seriously”, that endeared so many.
Al lived for and loved the times that he could gather his kids and grandkids to catch a Red Sox game, enjoy a cookout or even head to the beach for one of his nearly 50 years of family vacations at Hampton Beach.
Al will be remembered for his warm smile, kind heart and unwavering Catholic faith. He was truly loved and will be dearly missed.
He leaves behind his five children, their spouses: April and Bryan Finseth of Newbury, Kristen and Craig Ritz of Warner, Karen and Todd Therrien of Nashua Bob and Lauren Gurskis of Bradenton Beach FL, Cathy and Kirk Farrell of Mason; and his ten grandchildren: Bayla Finseth, Ava, Toby, Haleigh and Mikaela Therrien, Joshua and Jacob DeAngelis, Bo Gurskis, Faith and Holly Farrell. He also leaves behind numerous relatives, close friends and wonderful neighbors to which we are eternally grateful for their love and support over the years.
