I am late to these messages, not because I didn’t know sooner, but because so many I have known and admired over the years are falling around me that it takes some time. Just out of college I still remember Andy telling me it would be no problem to cut a hole in the roof of my brand new car and install a sunroof. Electric saw in hand, we did it! I see his get it done attitude never left him. Though we lost touch, I am sure those who knew and loved him later in life miss him dearly. My condolences. Respect, my Brother.

I just found out about Andy. I'm saddened and know this is a terrible loss for everyone that knew him. I met Andy when I attended ISH in Germany. I was brand new, and he called me and asked if I was interested in playing basketball for the ISH team. He was my first friend at a new school. I am forever grateful for that. It started a friendship that lasted many years. We graduated together in 1978. Both Andy and our friend Sven, stayed close throughout our college years and beyond. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends all over the world.

I think I am still in shock. Having worked with Andy since January of 2000, he was not only one of the nicest people I have ever had the honor to meet, but someone I truly admired and liked. No matter the reason for it, a phone call to Andy was always a pleasant experience, and that alone made him pure gold. May the family find comfort and peace during this difficult time, knowing that while some of our loved ones leave us far sooner than we would ever dream, we are better off just for having known them.

What an amazing man who is so loved and admired by many! As I reread all of these comments and in speaking with many people yesterday, it is so evident of the great man that we have lost. Andy, you were a man who was certainly devoted to your family and to your friends. You were an incredible husband, dad, second dad to some (especially our girls), and an awesome friend. You will be missed beyond words and you will forever have a special place in our hearts. We are all truly blessed to have had you in our lives. Thank you for all of the wonderful memories, we will hold onto them dearly. Your friends forever and ever… Bill and Angie

Andy and I were in the same class at school for many years at ISH in Hamburg and our friendship has lasted over 40 years. The comments of his strength of character his calmness, reliability but also deep friendship resonate as he was like that already as a teenager. He was like a big brother to me. I am sure I speak for many of his friends from that time when I say he will be dearly missed and he was a great person and a true friend. My deepest condolences to his family.

I have known Andy (and Lorri) for years. I also know his wife Erin. Our children grew up together , Erin coached my daughter in basketball. Even in divorce, there was never a mean word spoken between the husbands wives and exes. It was representative of how Andy respected and loved everyone in his life. He will be truly missed...Andy, hope you and Bob connect in Heaven, you would be great golf partners! I will miss you!

I have known Andy for many years at Sun/Oracle and for the past year have had the honor of working directly with Andy and the Escalation team. Andy took pride in his work, shared his knowledge, and was admired by every member of the team. Andy brought an immediate sense of calm to any situation, and no matter the issue, you knew everything was going to be fine. You were always in good hands with Andy. Our team calls will never be the same, but we have comfort knowing Andy is doing great things in Heaven as he did on Earth. You will be remembered forever. Rest well my friend!

I was shocked and deeply saddened to learn of Andy's passing. It has been my pleasure to have Andy as a friend and colleague since 2000, when I first joined Sun. We have successfully worked some of the toughest escalations of my career together, teamed up at Summit together and played golf together. He was the Best at his job, a great person and a true friend who will be sorely missed.

My sincere condolences to Andy's family. Your loss is our loss and we hope to ease some of the loss from your shoulders and your hearts. Andy was a welcome, friendly face every time he was with his friends at The Hick. He was a fun guy to be with and added quite a bit to our league with his personality and that fantastic smile. Andy, you will be sorely missed but we know you will be looking over us, chuckling from hole to hole. May you rest in peace brother.

His positive attitude and magnetic personality had everybody wanting to do things for him yet he was always busy doing things for others to notice. A truly selfless person. I am deeply saddened to learn of Andy’s passing. Andy was one of the finest people I have ever known. His patience (especially with me) was just one of his many gifts. Andy was a calming force in any situation, and we faced many of them over the years at Sun Microsystems and Oracle. He had a deep working knowledge of our company, products, processes and most importantly he knew everyone. Andy just got things done when they needed doing. Andy never complained about the silly stuff or the hard stuff. Even when customers or his own company were being unreasonable, he just continued to work the issues and manage the situation. When I took over the Escalation team in 2009, Andy was extremely supportive and ensured that I was successful. Trust me I needed it too. Andy was highly respected by his peers both internal to his team, and across the organizations. He was so good at this job that sales frequently asked for him by name when things got bad and there were huge financial implications to our success or failure. Andy had a special gift with customers in their hour of need, bringing calm and clarity. Simply put, Andy was my go-to-guy and I miss him terribly.

I worked with Andy years ago. I think the company was called Imaging Technology back then (today it is called Teledyne DALSA). Andy was a kind caring person and would always make you laugh. Sorry to hear of your loss

I worked with Andy for the past 4 years at Oracle. Andy, the most memorable moment was 4 years ago when you spent 3 hours one night assisting me with my first escalation. It has been most impressive watching you do your job despite your treatments and challenges. Your pride and mortal fortitude to progress forward are beyond comprehension. My sincere condolences to your family; you will be missed; Rest In Peace. Psalm 23:4, “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. ”

Andy, you will be missed. I saw a comment that stated that Andy was one of the best. To all that worked with him at Sun/Oracle, I could not agree more.

I worked with Andy for many years at both Sun and Oracle. He was a wonderful man to work with and was so very good at his job, pulling together teams of engineers and managers and coaxing them into working together to solve difficult issues. He was always calm under duress and I always knew that if Andy was working with me on an escalation, we would be successful. I shall really miss him, as a colleague, and also as a friend. My heart goes out to his family, and I wish them well for the future. Rest in peace Andy

What can I say about Andy, my forever son-in-law. He was one of the good guys who would give you the proverbial shirt off his back. Andy took me out of the dark ages when he gave me an HP computer and taught me how to use it. In turn I taught my grandchildren how to use it so any success they may have achieved in this world of technology they can give some of the credit to Andy. If I had any technical problems Andy wouldn't hesitate to jump in his car and make the trip from Nashua to Shrewsbury, Mass. to work at my the computer (no not the original ) until he fixed the problem no matter how long it took. I remember times when he stayed very late and would not accept any of my attempts to feed him or my offer of refreshments or anything else for that matter. In a word, Andy was a wonderful person with a passion to please!
