   Pauline A. (White) Barger, 64, of Milford, NH, wife of Mark W. Barger, passed away early Sunday morning, August 2, 2015.

    A resident of Milford since 1987, Pauline was born in Nashua on November 13, 1950. Educated in local schools, Pauline was a graduate of Nashua High School Class of 1969. Mrs. Barger had been employed with Nashua Corporation where she operated computer programs for many years.

   Pauline was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with her family, decorating her home, swimming in the pool, long drives and going to the beach.

   Members of her family include her husband Mark, with whom she shared 32 wonderful years; her mother, Bertha (Genest) Hodge of Nashua; two sons, Noah Quinno of Derry and Jason Quinno of Nashua; five grandchildren, Alex, Paige, Alyssa, Roxanne and Jason Jr.; a great-grandchild, Aiden; two brothers, Paul White and his wife Rita of Merrimack and Allen White of Manchester; a sister, Cathy Burns and her husband Bill of Nashua; four brothers-in-law and their wives,  Jim and Kathy Barger, Stephen and Marion Barger, Scott and Deanna Barger and Robert and Jackie Barger; her father-in-law, Joseph Barger; also many nieces, nephews and friends. Pauline was predeceased by her mother-in-law, Lennea Barger.

Stephen H. Atkinson

Atkinson, Stephen H.

Stephen H. Atkinson, 67, of Nashua, passed away unexpectedly at his home, Saturday morning, August 1, 2015.

    A son of the late Edward and Anita “Mickie” (Decker) Atkinson, he was born in Lynn, Massachusetts on March 27, 1948. “Steve” was a graduate of Danvers High School Class of 1966 and attended a college in Lynn where he earned a certificate in computer programming. An Army veteran, Mr. Atkinson served his country during the Vietnam War. 

    Steve had been employed as a computer contractor with the former Wang Labs in Lowell, MA for 35 years. After Wang’s closing, he continued working in the computer industry for other companies.

    He will be remembered as a loving and great husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. In his leisure time, Steve loved racing, was a NASCAR fan, and enjoyed spending time on his sail boat and camping with his family.

    Members of his family include his loving wife of 31 years, Nancy J. (Marshall) Atkinson of Nashua; five children, Kelly Sabans and her fiancé Chris Lewis of Maine, Cheryl Atkinson and her partner Joey Demeulle of Derry, Andrew Atkinson of Nashua, Glenn M. Liquori and his wife Tiffany of Michigan and Nicole Skyes and her husband Ryan of Nashua; ten grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Judith and Thomas Manuel; his father-in-law, William A. Marshall of Nashua; also nieces and nephews.

SERVICES: A Celebration of His Life will be held in the Pilgrim Congregational
Church, UCC, 4 Watson Street, Nashua, Friday morning at 10 o’clock followed by a luncheon at the church. Friends are invited to attend. Interment and Military Honors will take place at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Route 3 in Boscawen on Monday, August 10

Esther Mae Ackley

Ackley, Esther Mae ''Mousie''

Esther Mae “Mousie” (Chick) Ackley, 87, of West Palm Beach, Florida, a native and longtime Nashua resident, passed away Tuesday morning, July 14, 2015 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, after a brief illness.

    Mrs. Ackley was born in Nashua on June 20, 1928, a daughter of the late Walter Leslie and Blanche M. (Corey) Chick. Educated in local schools, she was a graduate of Nashua High School Class of 1946. In addition to raising her family, Esther had been employed with Hampshire Manufacturing and later worked at Kollsman Instruments as manager of the supply room for several years until her retirement.

    Esther was predeceased by her husband of 37 years, John Dennison Ackley who died June 30, 1994; her longtime companion, Gordon Jones; her sister, Jennie (Chick) Gerry; and her granddaughter. Jessica Erin Felton.

    She enjoyed spending summers with family in Nashua, the seacoast and the Lakes Region of New Hampshire. After she retired, Esther enjoyed many winters with her many dear friends of the Palm Lakes Coop at Riviera Beach working on the entertainment committee and the Clubhouse as well as entertaining guests at her home. Esther will be best remembered as a devoted wife, companion, mother and trusted friend. She was known for her good nature, sense of humor, her honesty and candor.  Mrs. Ackley was a member of the First Baptist Church of Nashua.

   Members of her family include two children, Dr. Kathleen Ann (Ackley) Felton of Richmond, IN and William Michael Ackley of Nashua; a granddaughter, Erica Jean (Ackley) Blake of Merrimack; two great-grandsons, Dylan Robert Whittingham and Austyn Jerod Whittingham both of Merrimack.

Delores A. Arnold

Arnold, Delores Anne

Delores Anne (Smith) Arnold, 83, of Hudson, passed away peacefully at her home Tuesday evening, June 23, 2015 surrounded by her loving family.

     Born in Nashua on November 27, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Raymond Smith and Mary Agnes (McLean) Smith-Hurd. Educated in local schools, Delores graduated from Nashua High School Class of 1949. Blessed with an artistic and creative soul, Delores was able to paint and draw anything that was asked of her and even wrote her Senior Class Poem for graduation.

    Mrs. Arnold was employed as a cost accountant with Sanders Associates, Inc. and their successors Lockheed Sanders and BAE Systems for 30 years until she retired.

      Delores’ passion was gardening and taking trips with “Bud” her loving partner for 17 years. Together they took a barren landscape of yard and turned it into a delightful assortment of colorful blooms and flowering trees. And like her blooms, her legacy will live on in the hearts of her friends, her family and most of all her grandchildren.

      Delores was predeceased by her loving mother, Mary Agnes (McLean) Hurd; her loving brother Clyde Smith; her loving partner Walter “Bud” Nichols, and most recently her loving son, Kevin Patrick Riley.

      Members of her family include a son, William T. Riley and his wife Cathy of Hudson, NH and his children Wendy, Billy, Kim and Don of Virginia; her daughter Kerry (Riley) Green-Olson and her husband Tim of Thornton, Colorado, and her children Thomas Griffin of Hooksett, NH, Tracy Griffin of Manchester, NH and Sean Green of Colorado; her daughter, Laurie (Riley) Bellman and her children James, Christopher and Joseph Bellman all of Bryant Pond, Maine; her daughter, Sharron (Arnold) McLean of Hudson and her children David Marston of Bedford, NH, Matt Marston and Kayla McLean of Hudson; also many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; her loving brother Chester Hurd and his wife Joyce, and loving sister Phyllis Lackie all of Hudson; as well as an abundance of nieces and nephews.

     Calling hours will be held at the FARWELL FUNERAL HOME, 18 Lock Street, Nashua on Sunday afternoon from 2 to 4 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. John XXIII Parish at St. John The Evangelist Church, 27 Library Street, Hudson, Monday morning at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Hills Farms Cemetery in Hudson. Jon Andrew Allan

  Jon Andrew Allan, 49, of New Boston, NH and formerly of Bedford, NH, passed away Sunday morning, May 31, 2015 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack. (after a long illness?)

      A New Hampshire resident since 1988, Jon was born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on September 2, 1965, son of Shirley (Williams) Allan of Ocala, FL and the late William A. Allan. Following his high school graduation, Jon furthered his education at Wentworth Institute of Technology and the University of Massachusetts at Lowell where he earned a certificate of manufacturing.

       Jon was employed as director of manufacturing for FLIR Systems of Billerica, MA for the past eight years.

       An active outdoorsman, Jon enjoyed biking hiking, kayaking and skiing in his leisure time. 

      In addition to his mother, Jon is survived by his significant other, Susan T. Clark of New Boston and her children, Stephanie and Allison Clark of Goffstown;

his three daughters, Lauren Alexandra Allan, Rachael Brooke Allan and Haley Nicholette Allan all of Bedford, NH; two sisters, Linda Mosquera and Debbie Lucas; a brother, Mark Allan; also nieces, nephews and cousins.

     SERVICES: Memorial visitation will be held at The First Church, U.C.C., One Concord Street, Nashua on Thursday, June 4th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. followed by a memorial service in the church at 1:30 p.m. Friends are invited to attend.    Karen Ann Ashman, 59, of Nashua, NH, passed away peacefully on Sunday afternoon, May 24, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer. As was true in life, she was surrounded by loved ones as she entered the gates of Heaven.

   Karen lived as a no-nonsense person, whose upbeat personality was laced with a bit of sass and a whole lot of love and humor, encouraging and inspiring all those around her. While Karen refused to back down to life’s curve balls, she openly shared her struggles and successes, her faith in Christ and her hope with others. She was known for her love of family and friends and she treasured togetherness.

    She openly explored her affinity for creativity by expressing herself as a painter and a loved karaoke singer in the Nashua area. Karen was also an actively involved member of Heritage Baptist Church in Nashua. She gained a great many friends in the sharing of her fun personality and talents who will sorely miss her.

     Karen is survived by her loving children, Kevin Boyle and his fiancé Sandy Cavalieri of Nashua, CJ Fantozzi and his wife Melissa of Nashua, and Corey Fantozzi and his wife Heather of Kansas. She leaves behind a large, loving extended family including her siblings, Annemarie Jazembowski and her husband Stanley, Edward Ashman Jr. and his wife Andrea, Paul Ashman and his wife Patricia, Richard Ashman and his significant other Bonnie Fitzgibbon; her former husband Charles Fantozzi; eleven grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and countless friends who adored her. She was predeceased by her parents, Edward and Anna Ashman and her half-sister, Elizabeth Kelly.

Doria S. (Blais) Arel, 90, of Nashua, widow of Alfred A. Arel, passed away Saturday morning, April 18, 2015 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack after a brief illness.

     A lifelong resident of Nashua, Doria was born on October 6, 1924, a daughter of the late Joseph and Anais (Plourde) Blais. During her youth, Doria resided in the French Hill neighborhood of this city and attended the former St. Francis Xavier School.

    Doria had been employed with Sprague Electric Company and later with Sanders Associates Inc. for many years until her retirement.

   In her leisure time, Doria enjoyed reading, gardening and watching the Lawrence Welk Show. She was also a fan of the Boston Red Sox and Boston Celtics.

   Doria was predeceased by her husband Alfred who died on September 6, 2004. They were married on January 11, 1958 and shared 46 years together. She was also predeceased by a brother, Theodore Blais; and sisters, Aline Peno and Lillian Durand.

    Members of her family include her daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Scott Ryan of Nashua; two grandchildren, Jessica and Brett Ryan; also many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins.

Dianne E. Altemus

Altemus, Dianne E.

Dianne E. Altemus, 70, of Goffstown and formerly of Milford and Nashua, died Monday evening, February 9, 2015 at the Hillsborough County Nursing Home after a period of declining health.

     Dianne was born in Lowell, Massachusetts on August 15, 1944, a daughter of the late Eugene R. and Gertrude C. (Blair) Altemus. During her youth, Dianne resided in Chelmsford, MA and was a graduate of Chelmsford High School Class of 1962.

      Dianne worked for a time as an interior decorator and was a volunteer at the Bedford (MA) Veterans Affairs Medical Center. She enjoyed painting with water colors, gardening and loved spending time at the beach with her children. Dianne enjoyed music and played a German Base Trumpet. She was a true follower of Jesus and shared her Christian beliefs with family and friends.

     In addition to her parents, Dianne was predeceased by her husband Anthony D’Alleva; and two sons, Gregory P. Hicks and David B. Hicks.

    Members of her family include a son, Bruce E. Hicks, Jr. of Manchester; a daughter, Natalie Houle of Nashua; a daughter-in-law, Lisa Hicks; two grandsons,

Gregory and Tyler Hicks; a brother, Blair R. Altemus and his wife Carol of Blackstone, MA; two sisters, Carolyn Rose Livingston and her husband Roland of Hawaii and Jeanne A. Morrison and her husband John of Chelmsford, MA; also many nieces and nephews.
