Barbara A. (Wojtowicz) Whitmore, 80, longtime resident of Nashua, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2022 at the Southern New Hampshire Medical Center.  She was born in Lowell, MA on March 6, 1941 to the late Andrew and Libby (Panagopoulos) Wojtowicz.  Raised and educated in Billerica, MA, Barbara graduated from Billerica High School with the Class of 1958.  After her graduation, she attended Salem State University graduating with the Class of 1962 earning her bachelor’s degree in education.

Barbara married the love of her life in a simple ceremony in 1962 and settled in Nashua with her husband to raise their family.  She had a career that lasted nearly 4 decades teaching in the business program at Nashua High School.  Barbara was not only a teacher but she was many other things as well; daughter, sister, wife, mother and friend. 

Barbara was the beloved matriarch of her family where she enjoyed spending time with them, reading, travelling, gardening and watching western classics.  She continued her service to the community as the board secretary for the Board of Trustees of Woodlawn and Pinewood Cemeteries.  Barbara was also the first woman president of the Nashua Lions Club.  She touched countless lives over the years and she will fondly be remembered, cherished and missed by all.

Barbara is survived by her dear daughter, Deborah Lynch and her husband Kevin, and her daughter-in-law, Sandra L. (Horne) Whitmore, all of Nashua.  She was the proud grandmother to her three grandchildren; Taylor Whitmore of Nashua, Adam Lee and his wife Crystal of Salem, NH and Kevin Lynch and his wife Maureen of Greer, SC, and great grandmother to Grace Helen Lee.  Barbara is also survived by her brother, Francis Wojtowicz and his wife Susan of Dracut, MA and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl E. Whitmore Sr., with whom she shared 33 years of marriage together before his passing in 1995, her son Carl E. Whitmore Jr, in 2018 and several siblings.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at 10 AM, at Immaculate Conception Church, 216 East Dunstable Rd, Nashua.  Friends and family are cordially invited to meet directly at the church.  Encryptment to follow in the Mausoleum at Woodlawn Cemetery, 101 Kinsley St, Nashua.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Barbara’s memory to either the American Cancer Society, PO Box 10538, Bedford, NH 03110 or to the St. Benedict Abbey, PO Box 778, Harvard, MA 01451.  To send an online message of condolence, please visit www.farwellfuneralservice.com Arrangements are in the care of the FARWELL FUNERAL SERVICE, 18 Lock Street, Nashua.

Family of the late Mrs Whitmore, I am.so sorry for the loss of ur loved one. I had her in school for short hand. She was an amazing teacher and a beautiful lady. She will be sadly missed but never forgotten. God Bless u and yours.
