Barbara S. Tamposi, 87, of Nashua, died peacefully Friday, November 27th at St. Joseph Hospital surrounded by members of her loving family.
A lifelong resident of Nashua, Mrs. Tamposi was born in Brattleboro, Vermont to the late William and Celina (LaFountaine) St. Pierre. Educated in local schools, she was a graduate of Nashua High School Class of 1946 and attended Emmanuel College in Boston.
Mrs. Tamposi was active in her community over the course of her lifetime supporting numerous philanthropic efforts in education, politics and the arts. Barbara was a longtime member of the Nashua Country Club where she enjoyed bridge and many friendships. An avid reader, she loved music and proudly performed with the Silver Linings Chorale at the Nashua Senior Center.
Barbara spent time at her beloved homes at Drake’s Island, Wells, Maine in the summer and winters at Citrus Hills, Hernando, Florida, where she could also be close to members of her family. She will be remembered for her great sense of humor, and intellectual curiosity that propelled her to travel the world, and a penchant for sharing good advice with her children and grandchildren.
A loving mother and grandmother, she leaves a family legacy of six children and their spouses, Samuel Jr. and Sharon (McOsker) Tamposi of Nashua, Michael and Judith (Abbott) Tamposi of Hollis, Elizabeth Tamposi of New Castle, Nicholas and Stephanie (Kislak) Tamposi of West Palm Beach, Florida, Celina “Sally” (Tamposi) and Patrick Griffin of Gilford and Stephen and Andrea (Lawit) Tamposi of Hernando, Florida. She also leaves behind 21 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Barbara was predeceased by her former husband Samuel A. Tamposi.
The family wishes to acknowledge the outstanding care and support from the staff and caregivers of Langdon Place in Nashua, where Mrs. Tamposi had been a resident for many years.
