SILVA, BARRY J.

   Barry J. Silva, of Bennington, Vermont, passed away on Monday, June 28, 2021 in Salem, NH after a lengthy illness. He spent his final days in this life cared for by his loving family and friends. Barry was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Carol Ann (LaChance) Silva and is survived by his wife of 17 years, Constance (Womersley) Silva.            

   Born in Danvers, Massachusetts on April 29, 1944, he was the only child of parents, James and Wilhelmina “Billie” (Nunes) Silva. Barry graduated from Bishop Fenwick of Peabody, Massachusetts in 1963, and after high school he enlisted in the US Navy and trained as a naval Marine corpsman on active duty from 1966 to 1967. After his military service, Barry earned an Associates degree in business from Hesser College.

    Barry was employed as a property manager with Poorvu Construction from 1978 to his retirement in 2015. Though the majority of his working years were spent as a property manager, he owned various businesses over his working career. Prior to moving to Bennington, Vermont, he lived in Litchfield, NH for 26 years.

    Among his many interests were skiing in Vermont with his family and friends, golfing, spending summer vacations in Old Orchard Beach, Maine, and traveling to places like the US Virgin Islands, Normandy, France, Azores, Portugal and the Bay area of California. Barry was a passionate Boston sports fan, attending numerous Patriots Super Bowls and many Celtics and Red Sox games. He was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church of Bennington.

    In addition to his wife Constance, members of his family also include; his three children, Scott Silva and his wife Sandra of Nashua, NH, Glenn Silva and his wife Jennifer of Salem, NH and Erin Silva of Winchester, VA; his stepson, Sean Logan and his partner Sabrina of North Carolina; and stepdaughter, Vera Logan of Bennington, VT; his grandchildren, Samantha Silva of Salem, Allison Silva of Nashua, Kobbey Silva of Salem, Carson Silva of Winchester, Cyrus McCaw and Adrian Logan both of North Carolina; also many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was an animal lover his whole life, which included many dogs, cats, horses, and most recently his Labradoodle, Jasper.

      Visiting hours will be held at the FARWELL FUNERAL HOME, 18 Lock Street, Nashua on Thursday, July 8th from 4 to 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Matthew Church, 2 Searles Road, Windham, NH on Friday, July 9th at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Edgewood Cemetery in Nashua. Connie: I was in shock to hear about Barry. Being away and fairly confined with Ted I didn't even realize he was sick. I am deeply sorry for your loss. I had noticed that the car wasn't around as much nor Jasper but hadn't seen anyone to ask. My prayers and thoughts are with you. It is a beautiful obituary.
