Bertha A. (Soucy) Laliberte, 80, of Danvers, MA and formerly of Nashua, passed away Wednesday morning, January 18, 2017 at Beverly Hospital in Beverly, MA.
A resident of the New England Homes for the Deaf in Danvers since March of 2014, Mrs. Laliberte was born in Madawaska, Maine on June 15, 1936, a daughter of the late Edmond and Yvette Soucy. She was educated in Montreal, Quebec, Canada at a School for the Deaf.
Bertha married Laurent L. Laliberte in Lowell, MA on October 11, 1956 and the couple made their home on Salem Street in Nashua. The Laliberte’s shared nearly 31 years together until his passing in September 1987.
A devoted wife and mother, Bertha enjoyed crochet, knitting and puzzles. She also loved traveling with her family to Disney World in Florida, New York City, Virginia, Kentucky, Texas and Montreal, Canada.
She was a communicant of the former St. Francis Xavier Church and later attended St. Christopher Church.
Members of her family include four children, Marcel L. Laliberte and his wife Heidi of Litchfield, NH, Pauline Rushia and her husband Andrew of Bradford, NH, Jacques Laliberte and his wife Tammy of Grottoes, VA and Robert Laliberte of Burlington, MA; six grandchildren, Erica Mueller, Derek Mueller, Kenneth Rushia, Michael Rushia, Samuel Rushia, and Timothy Laliberte and his wife Heather; two great-grandchildren, Peyton and Sophia Laliberte; also many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband and parents, Bertha was predeceased by her brothers and sisters.
Family and friends are invited to the FARWELL FUNERAL HOME, 18 Lock Street, Nashua, Saturday morning, January 21st from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Christopher Church, 62 Manchester Street, Nashua at 10 o’clock.
