Bonnie Christine Sico Russell of Goffstown, NH, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2025, at the age of 72, after a brief illness. She was born in Westfield, MA, on December 11, 1952, to Girardo A. and Eleanora (Consolatti) Sico.
Bonnie’s life was filled with compassion, creativity, and adventure. After graduating from Westfield High School, she pursued a degree in business administration and education, ultimately earning a master’s degree in counseling. While working in the accounting department at Anheuser-Busch in Merrimack, NH, she met the love of her life, Harry Russell. They married on November 1, 1980, and lived in Nashua, NH, before trading New England’s snow for the New Mexico sunshine in Las Cruces in 1993. There, Bonnie worked as a supervisor at the New Mexico State University Student Health Center until her retirement.
This chapter of the duo’s lives was filled with exploration and discovery. Visitors would not miss an early-morning walk, a trip to Historic Mesilla (or even Juarez for the adventurous), or the sight of jackrabbits darting into the mountains. Bonnie’s time in New Mexico also deepened her devotion to animals. As a Humane Society volunteer, she not only gave her time but also her home. She and Harry adopted dogs Charlie and Sammi and cats Oscar, Felix, and Lotti, providing them with a life filled with love.
When not exploring New Mexico or visiting family in Colorado and New England, Bonnie and Harry traveled far and wide, from Hawaii to Italy. Bonnie’s deep connection to her Italian heritage was reflected in both her love of cooking and her travels. She and Harry made several trips to Italy, visiting places like Rome, Portofino, and Elba.
Bonnie had an artistic soul and a heart full of curiosity. She was a talented artist, avid reader, and had a beautiful singing voice. She found joy in music, nature walks with her cousin Naomi, and watching birds at the feeder. A devoted, supportive, and genuine presence in her family’s lives, she leaves behind her loving husband of 44 years, Harry E. Russell, and her stepchildren: Janet (Francisco) Ginja, Debbie Morrisette, Sandra (Dan) Riedy, Harry Russell Jr., and John (Nicole) Russell. She was a cherished grandmother to Ryan, Evan, Jordan (late), Jacquie, Nicholas, and Macie, and a great-grandmother to Luisa.
Bonnie is survived by her siblings Gary (late wife Janine) Sico, Neva (Richard) LeSage, and Samuel (Lauri) Sico, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews who adored her.
Calling hours will be held at the FARWELL FUNERAL HOME, 18 Lock Street, Nashua, Friday evening, March 14th from 4 to 6 p.m. with a prayer service to follow. Interment will take place at a later date in East Cemetery in Hollis NH.
