Carol L Spiller of Leland, NC, passed away May 2, 2022, having succumbed to cancer. Carol was born in Nashua, NH, Graduating from Nashua High School, Continental Academy of Hair Design and attending N.H. College. Carol received her Certified Mortgage Banker Designation in 2007 from the Mortgage Bankers Association of America.
Carol worked in the banking profession and cosmetology locally for many years. In 1994, Carol relocated to the metro Atlanta area, working in cosmetology sales and the mortgage industry. In 1998, she relocated to Reston, VA accepting a position with the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation (Freddie Mac). In 2004, she returned to Nashua to join the Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston. In 2010, she moved to her retirement home in Leland, where she worked as an independent contractor in the mortgage industry until the day arrived when she “didn’t want to work anymore”, refusing to “retire”.
With time on her hands, she reunited with her camera and attended photography courses at a local art museum. Combining her renewed addiction to photography, love of music and travel, she could be found photographing performing musicians from NC to Myrtle Beach and on cruise ships, with nature photographs in many countries visited along the way. She’s created promotional materials for musicians and her photos have been published in local TV news broadcasts. When the Wilson Center of Cape Fear Community College, a state of the art, auditorium hosting popular musical acts and Broadway plays opened in October 2015, she began volunteering at the venue. Once again, she found herself and her camera photographing events and was particularly proud of being asked to photograph the volunteers, the Gladys Knight performance and a meet and greet with the Pointer Sisters.
Carol is predeceased by her Angels, George H. and Colette I. Livingston and Kate Marie Spiller. She is survived by her loving and caring, brother Thomas G. Livingston, who relocated back to the Carolina’s, to be near Carol as she fought this battle. Her near as can be sister, Ann Rose Simoneau of Fayetteville, NC and her Bestie’s Lynne A. Schubert of Leland NC and Jill Coyne of Gulfport, FL. She is survived by cousins in NC, FL and NH.
