Catherine Benson (Nolan) Hussey passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, March 13, 2020.  She was 81 years old and living in Nashua, NH.

Catherine “Cathy” was born on June 30th 1938 in Albany, New York, the oldest of six children of the late Eleanor Benson Nolan and  Cornelius “Joe” Nolan. Cathy attended Catholic schools her whole life and graduated with a B.S. in Nursing from the College of St. Rose in Albany.

When you think of Cathy one word comes to mind: Devotion. She was devoted to her husband Robert E. Hussey whom she married in 1960. They were married over 50 years.  They loved to go out to eat, hike, and cross- country ski. He predeceased her in February of 2011. She was also a devoted mother of six children. Even though she worked all of her life, she was always there for her children when they needed her. She was predeceased by two of her sons, Sean M. Hussey who died in 1961 and John G. Hussey who died in 2013. She was devoted in her work and was a nurse at Greenbriar Healthcare Nursing home for over 25 years and retired as a Director of Nursing.  And last but certainly not least, she was a very devout Catholic. She went to church often and found solace in her faith after her husband and sons passed away. She even became an Eucharistic Minister so she could give her son John communion when he was home bound. Cathy was also a fabulous cook and baker and was known for her pies, Crazy Cake and Chocolate Chip cookies.

Catherine is survived by her daughter-in-law, Michelle Hussey; and her loving children, Theresa McLaren and her husband William, Timothy Hussey and his wife Melissa, Daniel Hussey and his wife Angela, Annamae Logan and her husband Matt. She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Brendan Hussey, Shannon Hussey, Myles McLaren, Cameron McLaren, Owen McLaren, Nolan Hussey, Mae Catherine Logan and Abigail Logan; her three sisters, Anna May Hawkins, Mary Losito and Patty Audi; her brother, Frank Nolan and was predeceased by her brother Neil Nolan; also many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to express their gratitude and special thanks to the Visiting Angels for their kindness and care of Catherine.

Calling hours will be held at the FARWELL FUNERAL HOME, 18 Lock Street, Nashua on Tuesday, March 17th from 4 to 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Immaculate Conception Church, 216 East Dunstable Road, Nashua, Wednesday morning at 10:30 a.m. followed by interment at St. Patrick Cemetery in Hudson.  Friends are invited to attend and are asked to gather at the church. Cathy was a wonderful nursing supervisor and then DNS at Greenbriar Terrace. She lead the nursing staff with never ending professionalism and firmness but also with kindness and compassion. I have many fond memories of Greenbriar "circa Cathy Hussey RN DNS" and feel honored to have known her. Please accept my condolences on your loss.

Cathy, you and Bob were two of our very best friends. We shared many close moments and loved to be with you. You were also great advisors and consultants when we needed both. Your loving nature will never be forgotten. Our heartfelt condolences go out to Cathy’s family at this time. She was a special person whom we will all miss greatly.

Mrs. Hussey was like a second mother to many of us. She was always kind and a joy to be around. Even when we messed up (often) her demeanor never changed. She was firm but kind and understanding. She will be missed dearly but she's dancing in heaven with Mr. Hussey and John.

Cathy and Bob (Along with Nick & Rose) were near lifelong friends of my wife Theresa (Terry) and I and we dined out together, visited, swam in the pool, shared joys and sadnesses and for our part found them to be some of the nicest people on God's earth. We thank God for having allowed us to share in their lives and offer our deepest condolences to their family. They are surely what we mean when we say "Will be sorely missed"

I had the pleasure of meeting Cathy a year ago as her Visiting Angel. It was truly an honor to spend time with her! She enjoyed listening to Neil Diamond, Glen Campbell, the Carpenters and many more. Sitting outside watching the birds and yelling at the bees and attending singalong are some of my favorite memories! I will miss my friend. Sincere sorrow to Annamae and the entire family. ❤

I have many indelible memories of Cathy and Bob. My late husband , Leo, and I shared some crazy and fun adventures with the Husseys in Ireland, Bermuda and Christmas Eves. Probably some of the greatest laughs in my life were with Cathy. Departed ones leave holes in our hearts. Their children should be proud.
