Catherine was born September 25, 1938 in The Bronx, New York, daughter of the late Eugene and Mary (Traynor) Smith of New York City.

She was the loving wife of George Henry Partridge, Jr., whom she married on July 31, 1971. They shared 51 years of marriage.  Catherine was predeceased by her amazing three brothers, Matthew, Eugene and Richard Smith.

Besides her husband, survivors include her best friend and daughter, Michelle Ann (Partridge) Oro and son-in-law, Jonathan William Oro; her sister-in-law, Anne Smith of Copperas Cove, TX; her loving niece Kathy Guaragna and her husband Andrew; and two amazing nephews, Pat Smith, Matthew Smith and his wife Michelle Smith. She has many great nieces and nephews. Her most cherished loved ones are her granddaughters, Catherine Judith Oro and Elizabelle Ann Oro. She lived her life for them.

Catherine served the Lord as a Felician nun in Enfield, Connecticut for 10 years. Her chosen name was Sister Mary Marcia. At that time she became a teacher and Principal. When she left the convent, she continued to pursue her love of education and students and taught a few years in Bedford, NH.

She finally landed in Nashua, where she met George, and started her family. She continued teaching at Main Dunstable School for over 20 years. Catherine transferred to Ledge Street School in Nashua to work along side her daughter as a Title I teacher. She finished out her teaching career as a paraprofessional and after more than 50 years in education, she retired.

Cathy kept busy as an officer for the Auxiliary Post Unit 3 of the James E. Coffey Post 3, American Legion in Nashua. She eventually became President and her passion for helping Veterans and their families shone through. In her spare time, Cathy spoiled her grandchildren, kept the Christmas Dream alive. She loved going to Foxwoods and you could always find a cosmopolitan in hand. She had an infectious smile and Irish eyes that showed loved to anyone that she met.

Such a beautiful picture! Cathy truly lived a life of love: her family, her students, her friends. She serves as an example to all who knew and loved her to greet each day with a smile, a laugh and to work to make this world a better place. My sympathy to her family and to all who were lucky enough to be touched by this remarkable woman.
