Cecile (Demers) Mitchell, 88, a long time resident of Nashua, passed away on Friday, October 18, 2019 in Nashua, NH. Cecile was born in Manchester, NH on April 6, 1931, a daughter of the late Paul F. Demers and Alma (Lesmerises) Demers. The family moved to Nashua, NH in 1933 where Cecile made her home. Cecile was educated at local parochial schools and Nashua High School. She worked at Nashua Plastics, International Shoe, Simoneau Oil Company and Fred Fuller Oil Company.
Cecile was a devoted, caring and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be missed. She was active in the church, enjoyed traveling, taking trips to Mohegan Sun, playing cards and bingo weekly with her friends. She also enjoyed walking the beach and spending time with her family and friends.
Cecile was predeceased by her companion Gerald Garnham who passed away in January 1997.
Besides her parents, Cecile was predeceased by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Julien and Ruth Demers, Marcel and Claire Demers, and Andre and Edith Demers; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Lorette and Leo Lavoie, Pauline and Robert Latour, Jeanne and Thomas O’Loughlin Jr., and Lorraine and Roger Richard.
Members of her family include her three children, Rebecca (Mitchell) Heath and husband Jeffrey of Mont Vernon, NH, Brian Mitchell and wife Claudette of Fredericksburg, VA, and Jennifer (Mitchell) Palmer and husband Edward of Scarborough, ME. Along with seven grandchildren Courtney Heath of Tucson, AZ, Brianne (Mitchell) Diehl and husband Josh of Fredericksburg, VA, Matthew Mitchell and wife Valerie of Fredericksburg, VA, Abigail (Palmer) Giuliano and husband John of North Granby, CT, Edward Palmer Jr. of Dunedin, FL, Margaret Palmer of Scarborough, ME, and Madeline Palmer of Scarborough, ME. Five great-grandchildren Alexis, Michael and Bristol Diehl of Fredericksburg, VA, Isabelle and Elisabeth Mitchell of Fredericksburg, VA; her brother, Guy Demers and wife Carol; and many nieces and nephews and one cousin, Robert Lesmerises.
Family and friends are welcome to call at the FARWELL FUNERAL HOME, 18 Lock Street, Nashua on Friday, November 15, 2019 from 8am – 10am. Burial will take place at Pine Hill Cemetery, Peterborough, NH on Friday, November 15, 2019 at 11am.
