  Constance C. (Douville) Hendrickson Shimkonis, 95, of Nashua, widow of Richard A. Hendrickson and Julius Shimkonis, passed away early Thursday morning, May 7, 2020 at Greenbriar Healthcare after a period of declining health.

   A lifelong resident of this city, “Connie” was born on August 5, 1924, daughter of the late Emile Edward and Diana C. (Morin) Douville. She was a graduate of Nashua High School Class of 1942 and then began her 38-year career with the New England Telephone Company. Connie started as an operator and later was group chief operator. Following her retirement, Connie worked part-time at the former Nashua Trust Company.

   Connie was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and the Nashua Senior Activity Center. In her leisure time, she enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, reading, knitting, and playing card games, especially cribbage. She also loved to travel, and enjoyed her trips to Japan, Hawaii, and many other destinations in the USA. She made a lasting impression on all who knew her and will be deeply missed.

   In addition to her parents, Connie was predeceased by her husbands, Richard in June 1974 and Julius in February 2000; her son, Karl R. Hendrickson; her brother and sister-in-law, Lucien and Iona (Jordan) Douville; and her niece Paula Douville.

    Family members include two sons and daughters-in-law, Mark E. and Fran Hendrickson and Eric J. and Theresa Hendrickson all of Nashua; two granddaughters, Lynn Hendrickson and her husband Zachary Lippert of Boston, MA and Erin (Hendrickson) and her husband Jeramie Freda of Nashua, NH; also many nieces, nephews and cousins.   

   Due to public health concerns, funeral arrangements will be scheduled at a later date. I’m so sorry for your loss. I will miss Aunt Connie’s sense of humor and her laugh. I will remember her for the joy she brought to the friendship she had with my grandmother and all those years my sister and I grew up wearing her hand knit mittens.

I will always miss "Aunt Connie". She was one of a kind, a bright light in a dark world. She had a quick wit and honest outlook. She will be sorely missed. My mother's best, lifelong friend. God speed.
