David was born to Clarence David Dealoyd Horton and Voila Horton (Carter) on June 8, 1958, in Newark, N.J. He lived in Newark until the spring of 1972, at the age of 14 the family moved to Chester Depot, Vermont. David and his two sisters, Stephanie and Sheilia, worked in the family business with their parents. David learned how to work on cars and trucks while working in the business and became a man while living in Vermont/New Hampshire. David graduated from Green Mountain Union High School in 1977 and joined the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged on April 26, 1983. David was a CDL driver and worked in Vermont and New Orleans, LA. until you retired to do other odd and end jobs. There were many things in his life that David agonized over, but by far it was his lack of relationship with his son David, II. that he loved dearly.

The family had an 80th birthday celebration for our Father that David was able to attend. He had not seen his entire family all together for an estimated 11 years since they evacuated from New Orleans because of Katrina. During the celebration, he reconnected with his longtime friends from New Jersey, Larry Johnson and China Saunders and a few more family and friends that he had not seen for many years. This made David very happy.

In the words of his youngest sister, Sharah on her Facebook post, “David ALWAYS loved his family no matter what and told us every time we spoke. He was not only loving but was silly, had a great sense of humor and his big crazy laugh is impossible to describe or to put into words. He was by no means perfect but he did the best he could with the hand he was given. All the days of his life, ”
He is survived by his son, David Dealoyd Horton, Jr., his parents Clarence D. Horton and Viola Horton, three loving sisters, Stephanie D. Brantley (Prince) and Sheilia C. David... I wrote this dedication to and for you when I was allowed to do so... This dedication to you is what IMMEDIATELY to my mind with no forethought when I had a few days to reflect on your life and our times together. By no means does this account for the 45 years and 347 days you were a part of my life. In my youth, we had the best of times, 95% of your life. When you reached out to me and needed me, I ACTED ON IT! I tried my best to help you in every way I could. From the adoration of live to tough love. Sometimes, all of the love n the world can’t help a troubled soul. I have the BEST MEMORIES of you and a few of the ones I never wished we had. Nevertheless, I LOVE YOU FOREVER and YOU will never be forgotten. MY ONLY BROTHER... I never thought you’d be gone this way or so young. I will miss you always! I hope you have found “FURRY BUTT” (as much as I couldn’t stand for you to call Zoe that) but you two together, I think about waiting for me to join you both so we can, once again, love and enjoy each other’s company 💖💖💖 FOREVER LOVED AND NEVER FORGOTTEN... 😰 I will always hear your JOLLY SILLY LAUGH IN MY MIND WHEN I THINK OF YOU 💞 My One and Only Brother, David Dealoyd Horton, passed away on Sunday, 24 December 2017. Since that day, I have had some time to reflect on his life and the times we had together. First of all, David ALWAYS loved his family no matter what and told us every time we spoke. He was not only loving but was silly, had a great sense of humor and his big crazy laugh is impossible to describe or to put into words. He was by no means perfect but he did the best he could with the hand he was given. All the days of his life, my brother was an avid animal lover. I appreciate that about him! So much so that after meeting my Zoe, he became a devoted cat Daddy, even until his last day 💞. One of the things I will never forget is when we were growing up in Chester Depot, Vermont and David had BUILT a Red two door TransAm from scratch! He was an excellent mechanic! A craft he had learned working for my father’s trucking business in Vermont, just one mile from our house on Elm Street! When I was in 5th Grade and my brother would pick me from school on occasion, I was the coolest kid at school 😎! I’ll miss my brother and never imagined his life would end so suddenly but he will ALWAYS BE LOVED AND NEVER FORGOTTEN 💋! He was always a person one would never forget meeting 😎💞💋❤️ I send you prayers David... That you have eternal rest and peace for your weary soul and know that you were ALWAYS LOVED 💝💖💘💗

Your big sister will missed your phone calls at odd times of the day. Along with your sincere " I love you Sis, we are family". You missed so much not being around us but now, you are in a far better place. Say hello to my Gabbie and one time we will all meet again in eternity. I love you, Stephanie

My Only Brother.... I wish that I had one more moment in time to tell you how much I love you and how proud of you I am. I'm so sad that we were not able to spend this last Christmas together, but our Heavenly Father had other plans for you. I know that you are no longer sad or lonely. I know you are in a restful and peaceful state without the worries of this FLESHLY existence. May you rest in Peace with Gabbie. We miss you both dearly .... until we meet again. Your Younger Sister... Sheilia
